flippermaj
I have had black cocker for ten years and he has been a great dog. I now have the offer of a solid lemon cocker puppy (his grandson) but was wondering if any one had any feedback or experience with lemon coloured cookers? Most of those you see in the field all tend to be black. Does colour matter? Is it like it is with labs where they say the chocolate ones are hard to train and not so smart? norfolk dumpling
My wife is anti lemon. We want to mate our choc roam next year and she was quite categoric nothing that might throw lemon pups. I'm not bothered as long as pups are good workers and healthy of course. Salopian
There was a time when Lemon were prone to Rage but I think it was a breed issue now practically eradicated. A friend had one that had issues , and I had a Black one that did . So we do have to be careful when selecting breeding pairs. As anyone any experience of Rage in light coloured Cockers??? bigbird
It seems to be more prevalent in show strain cockers but it still does crop up in working cockers too as you say, particularly gold cockers so there seems to be a link to colour. Strangely enough it happens in Sprockers at a much more common rate than in cockers these days, I wonder why?
the hitman
I have had no issues with my lemon cocker , and any faults he has is down to my poor dog training skills . I think they are attractive dogs , and a change from the regular black/ chocolate .
