Glenlivet
Doing some research on the internet this morning I came across an offer Holland and Holland are currently running. An hour gun fitting and pattern plating followed by an hour lesson, £124 plus clays and cartridges. Thought this seemed like a good deal so booked in for Thursday morning. Never had a lesson so should be interesting. Hopefully a class outfit such as H&H should bring me some benefit!

EMT
Good tip, make sure you take plenty of FIBRE cartridges with you. The ground is fibre only and for 20b cartridges they charged something like £9.80 a box.
Glenlivet
Let us know how you get on. Will do, as long as I don't disgrace myself! I was going to take my own but would have taken plaswads. I've got 600 odd Hull Superfast fibre as my local sporting shoot won't accept plastic so I'll throw a few boxes in the car. archi
Highly recommended I would take more than a couple of boxes More like a good cartridge bag full as a minimum. I think when I went is shot well over 100. Might be worth taking so soft shooting cartridges I didnt get charged corkage but that was 5 or so years ago so things might have changed

I'll stick a slab in the car, might call in at Cloudside on my way down. Looking forward to seeing how the chokes are patterning, the Maxis chokes have a reputation for being tight. Glenlivet
Errr what's corkage If you take your own wine to a restaurant they often make a charge for opening the bottle and providing glasses. This would be similar, a surcharge for picking up your empty cartridge cases.
TIGHTCHOKE
Corkage in relation to cartridges is charging you to use your own rather than you buying them from the ground where you are shooting!
bakerboy
Corkage in relation to cartridges is charging you to use your own rather than you buying them from the ground where you are shooting! correct. But as stated by EMT, I may be wrong with the Corkage statement. It will be interesting to confirm one way or the other.

blackbird
Don't forget it's pump action shotguns only at the Holland & Holland shooting school.

I'd hate to breech etiquette. I'll see if I can borrow a Mossberg from someone. Do you think a 9 shot magnum would suffice?

Lol, a Mossberg would be a fantasic choice but only if it's sawn off I'll get my angle grinder and camo kit out........

bruno22rf
Is there any point in gun fitting if you are not going to buy a gun? Bit like being measured for a suit that you have no intention of buying?
