chipper
Hi All, Apart from the Harris Bipods, has anyone tried/bought other brands ? if so, how does the build quality compare with Harris bipods ? ? Thanks
psycho
Harris otherwise you will wish you bought a Harris..and buy a Harris and lose £20 buy another make and you will be lucky to give it away as your mates would want a harris
Mutiny
I've got an Atlas BT10, build quality is fantastic but it's not a particularly cheap option. Can't compare with a Harris as I've never owned one
Les*1066
I have cheap and cheerful Chinese bipods on all my rifles - from .22lr to .308W - and they are fine. All 6 have probably cost me less than one Harris.
ant1
i have a edgar brothers bipod good quality and well made
Medic1281
I have Harris and Edgar brother bipods. Harris have been perfect, Edgar one fell to bits, but to be fair it was fixed without issue and has been fine since. I will only buy Harris if I ever need a new one though. TONY R
have a harris leave it on my .22250most of the time , probably the best but i dont know i never tried anything else. Coldwell do bipods they might be ok i supose. Lots of good stuff coming out of china these days, could be there is something up to the task, a harris clone perhaps they clone many different things over there some are ok. And these days many brand names are made in china any way just badged up . .
Dekers
I have 2 different size Harris and many years down the line I'm happy. You have to work out your usage and then decide on size. If you only need a bipod once or twice a year then you may well find a cheaper brand perfectly adequate, but anyone who uses them a bit needs quality. For field work make sure it is swivel! I accept that to some extent, but I would suggest grass roots shooters and Pest Controllers don't give a toss about brand snobbery.
team tractor
I have a cheapo eBay at £10 that's pretty good and a deben I've have two years which is brilliant.
activeviii
Have had all sorts over the years, Harris, deben, atlas, cheap Chinese. All have done the same job, some better than others but at a cost. Chinese Harris works just fine but cheaper metal so it wears quicker than the Harris. One I have here is about 10years old now and the hole where the spring it's on main body is better a little elongated, other than that, it's fine. About 3rd the cost of Harris The atlas I didn't like, yes issue the job but didn't can't and lock like a Harris style. Alot of money but well put together. I have the Chinese copy here and it's better but then I made parts for it to tighten it up so can preloaded the pod now. Again, still not the best at cant lock. Gone back to my Harris style. kent
Harris no question for normal field shooting and there is a massive range of std and non std accessories to suit There are better for specialist needs but you just can't beat them - even when they are copied the firm's just cut corners as they need to undercut at lower volume

Duno i distinctly remember being told in no uncertain terms my cheap crappy Baikak MP153 would never last the season out, And how i should have invested my money in a popular italian brand 3.5 inch semi. that was in 2006. rjimmer
Most F-Class target shooters seem to favour bipods with skids on the ends of the legs.

bighit1985
Just wondering with these bipods. I'm in the camp for if it works then use it regardless of brand/cheapness. On my .22lr and air rifles I use just cheap Harris style bipods but waiting for my .243 ticket and wonder if people find that the cheap ones work on the bigger centrefires???
