bluesj
I take it that its has just started, If so it sounds like you have bent the thread in the rifle or mod. Or the mod could be loose Edited June 3, 2016 by bluesj

bluesj
Have you tried it without the mod?
steve_b_wales
Have you tried it without the mod? As above. Try with and without the mod' fitted. It could be the thread damaged on the moderator.
dog man
Have you tried it without the mod? No not yet i havent its aiways been a pig to zero iv had it from new but just lately its been all over the place and i noticed little chips out the end of the mod
bluesj
Sounds like it may be that the tread on the barrel may not be square or centered to the barrel or if your lucky it could be the mod thread

Dougy
Basics first. What rifle is it ? I'm assuming it's either rim fire or centre fire. But could be air rifle with an badly fitting push fit mod.
Graham M
It's a .
welshwarrior
Has this been recently threaded? Has the moderator been changed recently? What made you check and find the clipping?
dog man
Has this been recently threaded? Has the moderator been changed recently? What made you check and find the clipping? Hi iv been trying to zero it as the rounds are all over the place i was talkeing to a gunsmith he said check the end off the mod which i did
Rst1990
Could be a number of things, check to see what it's like without the mod on to narrow it down. These things don't just happen there is normally a reason ie screwed the mod on and jammed the threads up or knocked it, do you store it with the mod left on? If so the crown could be damaged with moisture etc Hope it's a quick and easy fix
welshwarrior
Hi iv been trying to zero it as the rounds are all over the place i was talkeing to a gunsmith he said check the end off the mod which i did So is it a new moderator? Or have you recently had it threaded? Reason I ask it will help us understand if it's moderator or barrel based. If the threading I'd new I put money on it be non concentric If it's a new mod and the old was fine it's a misaligned mod.

I bought them at the same time the rifle was new already cut mod fitted at the same time but from new its never shot tight groups
welshwarrior
So this set up is not new to you just the clipping? Edited June 4, 2016 by welshwarrior
Dekers
This seems to be getting overly complicated, take the mod off and try again, see what the groups are like, and check the crown at the same time. There have been various suggestions about the possible cause, that should take you a long way to finding out!
