Mitchiet123
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has driven or had to live with one of these monsters? If so how do they compare with UK pickup truck, and are they usable in the UK? I'm thinking in terms of do they actually fit on uk roads properly, can you park them etc? Can't decide between these (about 7- 10 years old with about 40-60k on the clock) or a much newer UK pickup. Thanks, Mitch
bluesj
Not much help but we have got a 90's chevy something or other pickup at work, its a horrible thing to drive I hate it! the boss's son has got a 2001 chevy silverado double cab pickup and that is great to drive and running on gas not too costly. four-wheel-drive
I think for driving on the road they are ok just look at all of the Merc sprinter vans driving around and and most US pickups ant much bigger than them as I see it the real problem is or would be parking if you wanted to pop to the shops for something I think it comes down to do you want it for a daily driver or just for weekends etc. Edited June 9, 2016 by four-wheel-drive
team tractor
My mates got a f150 lighting 12mpg on average and it fills the lane. He only uses it a few months of the year as it hurts the pocket.

If you can drive a sprinter then why not an American pickup! My mates got a f150 lighting 12mpg on average and it fills the lane. He only uses it a few months of the year as it hurts the pocket. Yikes, is that the 6 ish litre or the 8.3 srt-10? Suppose not too bad if it's lpg converted then that's equivalent 24mpg isn't it
rimfire4969
Should be fine in Birmingham apart from car parks, please don't come to Cornwall with it, it won't fit.

No chance, it'll run out of fuel while stuck in the M5 roadworks south of J4A.
Ridgeway Redneck
I run a Lincoln Navigator 5.4 as my daily driver, I don't have issues with driving it in the uk and it has LPG so it's not too bad on the pocket either.

four-wheel-drive
Much as I love big American cars and pickup trucks in the end I have to admit that they are made/meant for bug countries with big roads and open spaces if I lived in the US or Canada or Australia I would have one in a flash mostly driving one would be ok if a bit slow on narrow roads but parking it would be a pain a bit like driving a camper everyday. Having said that there is nothing wrong with Jap Pickup Trucks at least you stand a better chance of parking one in most car parks and plenty of room in the back for most things that you would need to move.
