Danger Mouse Posted May 12, 2007 Report Share Posted May 12, 2007 I have had a warning for mentioning another web site, not a link I hasten to add, just mentioning it, why did I mention it? well Pigeon Watch and the other site had a joint clay meet up and shot against each other.. Would have been rude to not mention them. I got warned and a very rude reply when I asked why.. No replies to my questions. I have since pm'd another mod and still no reply, but I accept that this was only yesterday and he may not have been on.. I look around the site and there are links all over the place to other sites, I did'nt even put a link up and get warned.. Good here int it! Example other sites that have the same forum listings, and or advertisers for pigeon shooting equiptment. I may be wrong on this , but that was my understanding. NTTF Thanks NTTF, yes thats what I understand too, however I did'nt put up a link. simply mentioned the people who took part in a shoot and where they were from. However in the House Rules it does not say that I can't do this! It says that I can not promote another site and that I can't add a link to another site. The issue you are complaining about is clearly in the house rules which you agreed to on signup - of which NTFF's interpretation is spot on. It should be noted that you did not just mention this site once, but in fact on 5 seperate occasions... in more than one topic in two days. If courtesy was a concern for you then I suspect you would respect the rules of the site. Of course I should point out, it is obviously a mere coincidence that you are a moderator on this particular site which you have repeatedly tried to promote here on pigeonwatch. Danger Mouse Posted May 12, 2007 Report Share Posted May 12, 2007 Teal, thank you for the input, so, if I had asked would it have been ok to mention the other forum? and 5 "mentions" in how many posts? quite a lot, it is difficult saying that "members of another site that we can not mention on Pigeon Watch" much easier to put the name, as incidently we have done on the other forum that we can not mention on here, we have shown the courtesy on there, so why not respect each other? We have friends who frequent both sites and we do not moderate links that show Pigeon watch especially when members of both sites have got together for a day out! Your PM back to me was rather abrupt and did not answer my questions this is why I and other members feel the need to publicly air them.. Sorry Teal, but that is fact, look at your members posts and read what they say. Some people are unhappy with the way that this site is censored. I enjoy this site, I go onto just two with any regularity, you know the other as you quite rightly said I am a moderator there. However PW can be frustrating sometimes! EDIT: If the site and it's administration are not to your liking then I suggest that you cancel your membership, ask for a full refund of your subscription fees and suggest that the mod in question have his wages docked. All in all though, all the mods do a pretty good job and work hard to keep the forum going. It's very hard to be in control of any large group of people and not upset anyone! If you find it that bad, why stay? 99% of the time things run well, the odd disagreement is certain to happen now and again. Time to move on and get over it maybe? When i replied to the PM it was ignored. I wasn't at all suprised when i read this thread that the mod in question was Henry D. I don't mind being warned when I'm in the wrong but I don't like being spoken to like a child as there is no need for it, it all boils down to the mods showing a little bit of savvy. deadeye ive Posted May 12, 2007 Report Share Posted May 12, 2007 Having just read through this thread my the only point I'd like to touch upon Is that when PW's site went down the new link was retrieved via other forums (For myself anyway )and had it not been for that then the return of existing members would have taken longer .I'm under no elusion Pigeon Watch realise this However having had my share of tighteners over the last couple of years I have never had one for posting links to other forums ........Why!, well because the intention was genuine .If a poster needed help or advice and a thread was going on eleswhere that might be of use then the link was provided by myself . I like Mike (aka Hawkeye ) but his thread in sporting pictures was done in a way that would have promoted a reaction and he can't be surprised on that one . I have never encountered problems on PW posting alternative links if there is a valid reason and the intentions are honorable and IMO Pigeon Watch Moderators excercise common sense but if posters cross the line on purpose then what do they expect . Since some PW members went off, in a huff, to set up a different site I've not seen as much whinging and whining about PW on PW. It occurs to me that people are being influenced to do this as "rules" on other sites have been created specially to cater for those same people and their attitudes (fair enough), perhaps also in order to have a pop at PW on the cheap. It's my opinion on those that left, making a song and dance about it, if you want to go then go and do as you like elsewhere. But this is PW. The reason, I suspect, people have returned (still moaning) is that they've discovered they can't replicate PW elsewhere, or even come close to it. Well tough titty lads. PW is not a public square. There are rules and guidelines for a reason, if you don't like it go elsewhere. An actual real life person other than yourselves CAN be held responsible for what goes on here, have a bit of cop on. About the mods on PW. I like them, I think they're fair. Call it whatever you want that's what I think. Of course mistakes will be made from time to time. Think you can do better, why not ask for the job and try it while being bound by those same rules and guidelines. I wouldn't expect them to be on 24/7 either, I'm not and I'm on a fair bit as it is. Genuine complaints I'll support any member on. But for the rest of ye, stop acting like yer ball(s) has been taken away by teacher This IS the best site of it's kind out there by a long way, and well ye know it. naddan28 Posted May 12, 2007 Report Share Posted May 12, 2007 I think PW is brill, the mods are 99% of the time spot on but on the odd occasion (like anything) mistakes/iffy calls are made. I must admit the air of mod/admin bashing that seems to be lingering is getting on my wick, if people are that set against it leave PW. The mods I'm sure are busy people who do have a life outside PW and I feel for them as this bashing is getting a bit OTT. I personally have had one or two warnings and have responded to the mods personally and would not dream of posting it over the forum, its a bit like kids slinging mud in the playground.
