oowee
A good run out yesterday with a yearling roe bagged in the morning. Out in the evening and we bagged a cracking mature buck of medal standard (high bronze low silver) Then out for the foxes where we bagged two early doors. which we put into the truck before going over to some of the recent stubble fields. Saw plenty tonight most of which would not respond to the calls. But its a start.

racing snake
Nice work Grant, Ed. Lovely looking buck there, and a couple on foxes in the bag. Managed to finally get out last night. Saw three foxes but all sky lined so no shot on any of them. Went to a smallish perm that I haven't been to since starting up again after summer break, but all three were definitely call-shy. I think someone's been visiting ...
FOXHUNTER1
Brilliant day out OOwee After going out Friday night and seeing Roe , Hares , Owls and Hedgehogs but no foxes I decided to go out last night bunny bashing with the HMR. It was blowing a gale so expected a few rabbits but it was really hard holding steady on the sticks with my HMR as it is very light , but a good challenge. I was near some whins and had shot 5 rabbits without moving when a fox popped out to see what the commotion was and duly got dispatched too It was a good 3 hours out , also managed a black rabbit Good start to my 2 weeks holidays , wondering where to go tonight ? racing snake
Going well FH1! Top work there. Had a few hours out last night. Somewhere in Wales lives the luckiest fox on the planet. Got myself set up on a small cliff with the caller about 20ft below me and out about 80 yards. A fox comes tearing in from the left so I quickly get the caller on mute and get on the gun scope ....couldn't find him. Back onto the thermal and he's heading right for the bottom of the cliff, straight at me. Back onto the scope, tilting the gun further forward until it's pointing around 60 degrees downwards and there's Mr Fox staring up at me. Just about to pull the trigger when the angle became too much for the Primos and it slips and clatters down the cliff. Never seen a fox move so fast. Couldn't help but give him a wry smile. I like it sometimes when they get away. I'll see him again.
oowee
A Cracker FH. RS happened a few times to me last night shooting doves in a barn with a very slippy floor. Sticks angled right back to shoot up into the roof and the feet kept sliding all over the place. At least my targets were waiting for me to set up again

I was kicking myself for a few minutes Grant, 3 hours out, the only fox seen and a massive cock-up at the last second. Had a bit of a giggle to myself collecting the primos from the bottom of the cliff, and doffed my cap to him.

racing snake
 Aye RS you cannot get them all.... You're right there mate. Another night on the punisher tonight. Well, I say that but I'm really starting to enjoy this cover. Yes it's a hard slog but you get the feeling you've accomplished something without even shooting a fox! That said, first fox tonight came before I'd even started the climb. Hopped over the gate and saw a fox disappear over the small brow in front of me. Got the gun on the sticks quickly and gave him a few squeaks. Over he comes but couldn't get him off the brow at first, so no safe shot. Squeaked him a few more times and he eventually comes down enough for a safe backstop and 1st one is in the bag. Climbed up the hill and got the caller set up. Scanned the hill all the way down, nothing showing apart from a couple of brocks over to the right. Half an hour with the beer can and nothing doing. Gave it a rest for twenty minutes then ran distressed cub for a few minutes and put it back on mute. Sure enough five minutes later a fox comes in from the left about 100 yards away. Got on the scope and put it down. Collected him on the way back down, a good size dog! Probably me done for a week or so now. River's finally settling down after all the recent rain, and with nothing much forecast I'm hoping to get some hours in after the sea trout. Beef and chorizo burgers, standing on the newly tiled floor that turns out to be very slippery when the dog has dribbled water everywhere

ShootingEgg
Finally got out this week, i know its only Tuesday but still needed to get out.. Went to a field that backs onto a chicken farm, got there at about 745 and Sat on the back on the landy in our homemade cage. Used a reed caller for a few minutes, then sat and chilled out to tge sunset a few crow's and pheasants walking the field. And the light faded I started to call again. Quick scan with the lamp as it was dark enough to not see far side of field. Nothing. Got to 8:40 and I lamped the field and saw eyes, started to call, checked again and had his attention, light off and call some more, this time he was a bit more interested and started to move diagonally towards me. Kept checking with the lamp, and he then turned and was coming straight at me. Checked through scope without the lamp and could see him. Didnt need to shout as he sat down at about 60yrds so the trigger got pulled.. **photo to follow when I sort out a inage hosting website**
