Scully
So it would seem. Footage showed a keeper setting one atop a fence post. He was prosecuted. Have tried to find a link but no joy.

CharlieT
Have just seen the BBC 6 O'clock news. Who in their right mind thinks it ok to set a Fenn trap atop a fence post? Was that a new offence or were they digging up the offence committed in 2013.
Scully
Was that a new offence or were they digging up the offence committed in 2013. Sorry, I have no idea. It doesn't really matter now, as the damage is done and the image is out there. We have nothing to counter that on a nationwide scale at such a high profile level. Brixsmaid
Governments response to the petition here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/125003, i'm sure it won't be the end of it though, even if it should be! Gordon R
A good response from the Government - if slightly repetitive:- The raptor persecution group, led by a senior police officer, focuses on the golden eagle, goshawk, hen harrier, peregrine, red kite and white tailed eagle and is led by a senior police officer. Piebob
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/hen-harrier-breeding-season-set-to-be-most-successful-for-5-years Pity about the usual mantra from the RSPB. Edit: Woops - that's last years numbers. Thought it was from this year!!! Edited August 19, 2016 by Piebob
panoma1
Let's hope if a debate ensues in parliament the RSPB and other anti shooting lobbyists via their allegedly bought and paid for (sorry sponsored!) MP's are called upon to provide peer reviewed scientific proof of their claims relating to grouse shooting.....I personally doubt they can! ShootingEgg
That link Might of been 2015 but look at the figures for last 5 years.. Its all over the place. Yiu cant point finger at one thing like the anti's are doing. Edited August 19, 2016 by ShootingEgg
Brixsmaid
Another reasonable article in the Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/08/21/dont-let-eco-zealots-wreck-this-chance-to-save-the-hen-harrier/
panoma1
A balanced article by the chairman of the hawk and owl trust, who should know a bit about raptors! The real question is why did the RSPB withdraw as a member of the hen harrier action plan after only a few months? Could it be that those at the top of RSPB do not really want the hen harrier to flourish on grouse moors? because if the action plan successful........It would remove the stick they are currently using to beat grouse shooting with. Another reasonable article in the Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/08/21/dont-let-eco-zealots-wreck-this-chance-to-save-the-hen-harrier/ A very well written article. ShootingEgg
Have started an email yes. My message wasnt a dig bud, was more a case of has anyone posed the question. As it would be good to get the answer
panoma1
Have you asked them? No point! they are only going to tell you what they want you to believe! And I see that Avery in his latest blog has attacked the author and savaged the article, presumably because the writer holds contrary views? As he appears to do to everyone who does not agree with him, isn't that the definition of a zealot?...........Which is what he and his respondent sheep (sorry supporters) are objecting to being called! Scully
No point! they are only going to tell you what they want you to believe! So your question in your previous post was just rhetorical? Leaving it to someone else is easy.
panoma1
I thought it was obvious it was rhetorical? So obviously I wasnt expecting or wanting an answer! I dont believe a word the RSPB utter............ So I reiterate........no point asking them!

You've done it again twice in your post 221 above. Rhetoric again I assume.
