poontang
Due to a recent move, and being incredibly busy at work over the last few months I've struggled to find the time to get out with my camera (or gun). However my move has put me much closer to the nest site of a pair of breeding Little Owls, so I've been keeping an eye on them on a fairly regular basis over the last few weeks in the hope of catching a glimpse of any young birds in or around the nest. The nest is set in an old oak tree and as luck would have it a quick trip on the way home from work one evening a couple of weeks ago gave me the chance to catch this little fella keeping an eye on his surroundings. The light is fairly poor in the evenings at this site so I was determined to catch him in the early morning light. A week later I was up and out at 4am to catch the sunrise. I could the calling of the owlet in his nest for a couple of hours, but no sign of him coming out. The sunrise bathed the area in warm light for a short time, and then he made his appearance, as if on cue. I managed a few shots before he scuttled off to the other side of the oak and into the shade. I hope you enjoy the pics.
