If you are sure you need a 4x4 you cant beat Toyotas some nice Land cruiser colorados around in your price range top reliability and built to last. I would love a Nissan potrol Gr but as things are and as my ancient terrano is still very much a project these days, but shooting still needs to go on i get by with a T5 Volkwagen Transporter and a Small ATV !00cc it fits in the van easy and to use the yamaha i need the trailer too much faffing. Way it is now just pull up two in the morning after lamping no ATV to unload off the trailer just back the van in the garage job done.

Here look at these two wheel drives and a golf doing ok off road and if you take a passenger with you.:lol:

Very Helpful you complete ******

It was a joke if you want something that drives like a car on the road and not like a 4x4 but will also go over muddy fields and lanes and not get stuck you will be hard pushed to beat a Nissan X-trail I have got a 2003 diesel one and can confirm that they are very good in the mud and the fuel consumption is also good.

So you are selling the golf and going 4x4 as the one and only?

No I have an 2009 Audi A3 that my Mrs drives should I ever need kind distances. Just purely look do something to go up the fields and to work in.

If you wanted a bit of fun on the road then also 4wd how about a turbo forester? Or a Impreza sport wagon

The ground clearance is good and the awd system is pretty impressive

The point is X-Trails tick most of the boxes that they guy wants and they tend to be owned by older people and are good family cars to do the school run in and get the weeky shop so mostly they have not been badly treated unlike the Impreza foresters are good but not cheap to buy.

No problem at all for commuting, mine is about £300 a year and most insurers seem to cover them like cars and not push you at commercial insurance. Lv direct line and the admiral group are ones I've been with.

Your budget will get a good newer shape l200 or a rough Isuzu or hilux.

Personally if you shoot, have dogs etc then it's the perfect vehicle and reasonable running costs

Just a quick question guys...how do you go about insuring a pick up?. I can't seem to get a Commuting option, it's either business use or social pleasure and domestic?

If you get a double cab pickup i think they get you out of that rooling as classified as normal 4X4
