What can I say? Cracking day! Very much enjoyed the company of agaman and JDog, after Agamans very kind promise to get me out shooting with him, today was the day, it was a pleasure to watch the two of them go about there trade, I'm not one for painting a picture with words as they do so often so I'll leave the detail to them. True gents both of them, thankyou!

We greatly enjoyed the company of Wilksy today. The pigeons were difficult as they wouldn't decoy but we all shot a few good ones, the very best of the lot being the one Wilksy is holding in the picture. The bird was 50m up going with the wind on a return line. A pleasure to see. The bag was a creditable 43 flight line pigeons.

It was indeed a great day. As said the pigeons wouldn't decoy despite a decent spread of dead birds, a rotary and Wilksy's new super duper flapper on display.

The stubble had been disced and perhaps the decoys didn't stand out against the soil, but thankfully the flightlines over us were fairly busy for an hour or so and the wind reduced the height of them.

We all missed birds we wouldn't normally miss today but made up for it with some good long shots towards the end. Wilksy was good company in the hide and we shared some good banter.

By his own admission Wilksy is a relative newbie to pigeon shooting and the aim of today was to give him some pointers and tips and hopefully help him to improve his own decoying sessions.

We shared a few of our secrets with him and in return he showed us how to deal with the high bird on the return line.{great shot} :good:

He left us tonight with a happy smile on his face and said Jdog and i had tought him so much that he couldn't rember half of it at the end.

He will remember this afternoon for a long while and that will do for me! :)

I have a feeling this will not be a popular comment and no doubt you Lads will be thinking "Mind your own" but I'm thinking it so will say it.

That closed Gun propped against the tree' whilst the hide is being put up in the first photo is drawing my attention from an otherwise great photo.

I'm pretty sure it is unloaded but like for the sake of Good safety pratice would it not have being better left in the slip or at least laying on the ground with the action broken until the hide was built or taking Down which looks to be the case?

Possibly something that should be highlighted to a Newbie to the sport.

Other than that, Great snaps of what sounded like a great day in the field with some very happy looking Men.

Well spotted supergoose, the gun is mine and of course it was empty as we were dismantling the hide and packing up. The only real danger there is the gun could fall and get damaged which would be my own stupid fault.

Although Wilksy is quite new to pigeon shooting, he has been shooting for many years. The afternon was to teach him some pigeon shooting tips not gun safety, but it is a fair point you have made for others reading.
