muncher
I was thinking of having a 20 bore for pigeon shooting next year ,well that was until i looked up the price of the cartridges ,why are they so expensive . The only reason i can come up with is they cant sell as many ,a components should be cheaper as you use less materials? Can anyone explain this please. Less demand as far as i can see it, sometimes get them sub £200 a thousand but not often. I bought 24gram 7.5s fiocchis from whaplode when they were cheap at about £190/1000. Suits me for the amount of cartridges i use. I presume you've tried one out on pigeons? If not you're welcome to have a go with my over/under

Big Mat
Yes I have Mat ,well my hushpower one and quite like the idea . I've been using mine for everything except wildfowling. Took it on a driven day on saturday and was taking some very good ducks and pheasants using a 28gram steel 4 load!
sitsinhedges
The good thing is that you can refill the shells economically. About £175/1k for game shells and much less if you make the shot.

I am using A0 and AS but due to Lyalvale screwing us over and refusing to sell bulk drums to dealers it's now too dear so I will be using Maxam powders supplied by FES in future. Whitebridges
If reloading isn't for you look out for bin end deals. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/335303-20-bore-bin-end-deals/ I bought a couple of thousand VIP's at £189 a thousand. This was April this year. Today's price is £284 a thousand. I think they changed the boxes or something similar.
