pigeon controller
I've just been asked the question can the hushpower silencer on my Mossberg 500 be taken off and fitted to another single barrel shotgun with the same barrel diameter ? Ive been out today on the bottle run and the farmer was surprised by how guiet my two shots were last week. From an engineering point of view I can not see a problem but over to the massive to educate me.

sitsinhedges
It could be done but wouldn't be cost effective. Just buy a ready made single if that is what you want.
R1nut
Is the porting what makes them so quiet? I only ask because I am interested in getting one. Do any of you take it off to clean?
TR1
More importantly if the barrel is ported you need to take of the outer silencer tube to check for rust. They tend to get a lot of moisture trapped

ChrisPCarter
It's shaped around the rib of the M500 and the barrel is ported so I'd say no. But they do a standalone silencer that screws onto a single barrel 410 I believe. They also fit them to one of the Beretta models. There's loads of info on the Saddlery and Gunroom website. pigeon controller
I think the farmer wanted to know if he could fit one on his semi auto three shot but I'm not sure if it would cycle with subsonic cartridges.
theshootist
If wants one fitted then the barrel will need to be ported and a threaded rear piece to the moderator is permanently fitted just in front of the forend. It probably won't cycle with subs but he can just cycle it manually. I'm going to get a 20b done.
