Feltwad
Enclosed are a couple of images which may be of interest to some memmbers of a Victorian Coach Gun .These guns along with the blunderbuss were used by the coach drivers for self protection , the gun in the images dismantled the stock folds back over the action and the barrel came in two parts it then could be put under the drivers seat till needed. impala59
Interesting that a "coach gun" now would be defined as a short barreled s x s, perhaps that's the American version?
welshwarrior
Very interesting how do the barrels join?

Feltwad
Very interesting how do the barrels join? If you look at the image you will see a band in the middle of the barrel length this is where they join by one screwing into the other ,to join the barrels to the stock this is by a hooked breech plug to the standing breech and a spring loaded clip at the forend of the stock see image Feltwad
HDAV
Interesting that a "coach gun" now would be defined as a short barreled s x s, perhaps that's the American version?Hollywood certainly, but how accurate that is........ Edit;http://www.truewestmagazine.com/shootin-shot/ pretty true it seems My grandparents a blunderbuss in the dining room (not sure if it was deact or replica (barrel was plugged a couple inches back from the muzzle) flintlock I think used to love playing with it (not sure I wa supposed to) as a kid seemed very heavy back then Edited December 23, 2016 by HDAV
