100milesaway
I have shot several times at the Irish Open both in the North and the South and never had a problem with taking my gun to and fro.Get in touch with one of the larger clubs over there and i'm sure one of their members would explain all. from Auntie. Eyefor
If anyone needs accommodation there's a travel lodge right next to a McDonalds in Wellingborough probably 15 mins from Sporting Targets https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/190/Wellingborough-Rushden-hotel?WT.tsrc=GHA_Organic&utm_campaign=GHA_Wellingborough%20Rushden&utm_medium=GHA_Organic&utm_source=google The nearest hotel to Sporting Targets is The Sharnbrook Hotel - info here http://www.thesharnbrookhotel.com/ Bedford Autodrome have three helipads available, PPR only - http://www.bedfordaerodrome.com/helicopter-landings.aspx I'll add a marker to the map for you. There is also a private farm strip (again, PPR) called Sackville Farm (it's in Pooley's and The Farm Strips Guide) and you can walk on public footpaths from there to Sporting Targets if anyone wants to fly in. Strip takes anything from microlights to twins (and rotary). No connection with either outfit - I live in Riseley (less than a mile from Sporting Targets). Your comment on the public footpaths leading from the farm strip reminded me of Will Self walking from his house in London to a hotel in New York - via Heathrow and JFK airport - as briefly described in the second paragraph of this New York Times article. Sackville Farm strip to Sporting Targets is max 1/2 mile - if you happen to park at the western end of 27 (with PPR). If you're at 1 / 3 / 5 / 10,000ft in North Beds looking for Sackville Strip find a conifer woodland south west of Grafham Water known to me (and others) as pubic wood. Perfect triangle of dark shrub with 09 running from the "Mike Cli'toris" end (if you can find it.......) Landing on 27 toward "Mike Cli'toris" is a wonderful feeling..... When you see it you'll know what I mean...... Edited February 5, 2017 by Eyefor
