andypaint
I don't watch much tv, but I do enjoy some of the alaskan programmes and wheeler dealers. But it looks like sky tv are dumping 12 channels due to a money dispute. As soon as 1St of February. Well the Discovery channels are pretty much the only ones I watch, so sky will be cancelled. But there's no virgin cable here, just wondering what other options I've got that offers me a variety of channels.
shaun4860
It's all due to kick off as you say on the 1st of February, From what I read, Discovery paid a silly amount for the next Olympics (Eurosport) and so to recoup some of that they are trying to hike the prices that Sky pay for their channels, Discovery are saying that they are getting less and less for their products Sky are playing hardball at the minute and have said no, Discovery have said then you can't have our content..... Personally I think it will blow over and they will come to some agreement, Sky can't afford to lose Discovery and likewise Discovery can't afford to lose Sky Will be an interesting few days methinxs

The Mighty Prawn
Discovery output is some of Sky's most sought out content so they'd be mad to let it go but someone will swoop in if they do - commercial suicide methinks
cromwell7
Get BT vision I pay around £30 a month and have tv internet and phone including line rental. Channels I have include discovery, nat geo, history, MTV shows for the tits and **** programmes my Wife watches. It's run of digital Ariel and broadband (the latter is only if you want on demand) Edited January 27, 2017 by cromwell7
KFC
I'm hacked off because my real interest is bike racing on Eurosport, especially British Superbikes. World Superbike is not too bad and Motogp is like watching paint dry. It looks like BSB may be going to Quest which is a Freeview Channel so I'm thinking of ditching sky and going Freeview cos I don't see the point of paying for what I can watch for free. From what I'm understanding at the moment Eurosport is offering online TV for £5.99 pm for WSB coverage and Motogp went to BTsport sometime ago at £12.99pm but I usually watch highlights free on itv4. Haven't seen if Sky are going to reduce their price yet, seeing as I pay for an extra bundle to get Eurosport I should hope so. Interested to see what others will be doing. toxo
Kodi for me too. Forget Discovery channels. With a Kodi box you'll have access to a thousand times more and better.
SpringDon
This is a disaster! No bsb, wsb or forged in fire. That's a lot of hours of tv. Looked up kodi but that seems to be a multi platform content organiser. How do you get the content? Also, for those that dumped sky, does anyone still get formula one? stevo_m
I see the Kodi boxes were in the news yesterday. Wonder how long they will be around now. Must admit, if Discovery goes from Sky, I won't be a customer anymore.

You install "ad-ons" the connect to streamed content. You can also install a "build" that contains numerous ad-ons and usually a graphical interface making accessing them better. According to newspapers Internet companies are starting to crack down on pirate streaming.

Bigbob
Sky are dumping them as they asked for a billion pounds sky said we pay hundreds of millions for those channels but the extra money could be better used elsewhere
andypaint
I've just read somewhere that if your within contract with sky and need to cancel. Then according to their t&c's they should have informed customers of channel changes with 30 days notice. Well they didn't so their in breach of contract so no exit fees. Are the Discovery channels on bt then? As I can't get cable, and think kodi box's days are numbered.

I'm with BT for my Internet so got extra discount for the top package. £10per month which is significantly less than my sky. Added bonus of free BT sport as they cover the Americas cup!
