walshie
We had an influx of cluster flies last Autumn. They seemed to be living in a velux window. Opening the window got rid of them (we thought) but since then we've seen a few dead ones on the floor under the window. Are these dead ones just ones from the Autumn or are they still breeding? If so, what is the best treatment to get rid? Or is it a job for a specialist? Cheers.
silver pigeon69
Once you have had them, they tend to return to the same place. Give this a go https://www.hygienesuppliesdirect.com/products/prod205931-protector-c-500ml-insecticidal

andypaint
You can also use some greenhouse bombs to good effect, put them on something metal off the floor light them and vacate the room for a few hours while the smoke does it magic. UKPoacher
There is a product called Cluster Buster that you fit to your window and it attracts the flies that then sink into the dust in the tray. Quite a few businesses out here have got them..
lurchers
They come in to hibernate for the winter just open your window and spray around the seal where the window shuts with a good fly spray and check your loft as they like them to.as once the spring comes and the weather warms up you will see them gathering on your outside wall of your house in the sun to warm up and fly off. mickyh
Or do as I do. Go up into the loft with a hand held Vacuum ! Great fun and hundreds get released into the cold air at the bottom of the garden. I dont know if they find their way back, but we always have lots every winter? They are quite clean flies, they dont do rubbish or Dog muck, they feed on worms I've read. Parasitic.
Vince Green
Are these what we used to call harvest flies? Hundreds of little black flies that always appeared at that time of year? If so its a job for the vacuum cleaner.

johnnythefox70
E.F.K (electronic fly killer) installed in roof loft should get rid of a fair few, but as others have said they will prob return later in the year
mick miller
I run zapper in the loft, in reluctant to use insecticides in the space above where we sleep so just put up with then every year (and now ladybirds too).

I bought a kit from a place In Yorkshire this did the job. best time to use it is on a very cold day.
R6demon
Horrid things. We get them in our velux. Fly killer sorts them out
