Poacher
It is a shame the way this country treats gurkhas once they've done with them, especially considering how many scum bags / lazy ******* there are scrounging off this country. davo
He should declare himself an asylum seeker, not only will he get treatment he'll get a house and benefits... Bloody disgrace the way veterans and serving servicemen/women are treated by this country, if he was a junky or alcoholic he would get anything he asked for. Off to fill in petition now. Cranfield
The Ghurkas were out in Folkestone last week with petitions. This case has received a lot of publicity, I think a couple of national newspapers are taking up his case.
Lord Geordie
Read this too.......... says it all............... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/c...penComment=true Surely under the "strong ties with britain" then the military comrades type clubs through out Britain should stand as such a tie for the chap. The Legions clubs should be able to launch a protest to the Government to get this chap into the UK and receive his treatment. It is the very LEAST this country can do for the guy! Lets face it though this government have a LONG history of brushing aside those who have fought valliantly to protect the very fibre of what was supposed to be british values. Now it seems even our fighting troops are only to have second best equiptment and are still fying round in near 40 year old fighters and using 1960s radio equiptment unarmoured vehicles the list is endless. Now it transpires that not ONLY has the Governemnt paid it's LAST repayment installment to the US of some Billions a YEAR but they also sold a whopping lot of shares in the British energy company and stand to receive another 2.8 BILLION pounds. This is AFTER their interference when the company looked like it was going to go under and the government ploughed in PUBLIC money to shore up the company till it recovered. Now they want to spend the money on decomissioning the nuclear stations etc where the COMPANY should SURELY be held responsible for that outlay??;)???:(? This whole Government STINKS from the way it runs Immigration to the way it spends PUBLIC money and then sends our lads overseas ill equiped and also ignores the plight of a VC holder when he needs so litte in return for offering his LIFE to save this once great but now sick and dying country LG

SNAKEBITE
This sort of thing really does annoy me. I had heard of this situation a week or so back but did not know of the petition. I understand the Sun newspaper(?) has taken up the cause.

NorfolkBoy
Quote BBC: "However, Mr Byrne has said he and Home Secretary John Reid reviewed the case and decided to grant Mr Pun a settlement visa immediately." Thus hoping that this is all forgotten before the next election and ensuring maximum damage limitation......
Cranfield
Whatever their motivation (and I think they have been overwhelmed by the bad publicity), at least the gentleman gets his wish.
SNAKEBITE
Not just his wish Cranfield but he gets what he deserves and nothing less than is due to him. We need more people like him in this world but less wars to prove themselves in.
njc110381
No need to sign the petition now then, saves me a job. It would have been well worth the time if it did need doing though, we owe these guys whatever it is they need for what they've done for us
