old man
Advice please? Currently running an AA S410 xtra FAC in.22. and using a rupture giving filling tank which is fine for everything but field use. Thinking maybe, if cheap/easy of the possibility of a lightweight small bottle to fill from my big tank for out in the field? The smaller the better? Anyone? Bobba
Not enough info on your current shots per fill and how many shots you anticipate using in "the field" to calculate the size of the cylinder you need to carry with you. Indeed, why you would want to carry one with you at all? Why 300 bar? Certainly 300 bar will give you more fills than 232 bar per same size cylinder. But because the cylinder is an HP cylinder the steel is thicker and therefore heavier (and dearer) than same size 232. And, anyway, you're limited to the filling pressure of the AA s410 (190 bar?). If you really need to take a cylinder in to the field then cost wise I would look at the standard 3 litre 232 pony bottle used throughout the diving fraternity fitted with a surface use only pillar valve (probably with integral contents gauge). You would then find from dive stores the grp / plastic single cylinder back pack with harness. This combination is easy to carry and manage in the outdoors. You can then get what is known as a decanting whip to transfer air from your larger to smaller cylinder. These comments are base on past experience as a BSAC diving instructor and owning an AA S410. old man
Thanks Bobba, still trying to see the need for one/? Just covering all bases for need/viability.
figgy
Just buy a rifle with a buddy bottle big enough to cover your shot count needs. Carrying a bottle round the fields even a lightweight one will become tiresome and get in your way.
old man
Not ever changing the rifle, one perm a fair way from motor so just examining the possibility of a tiny bottle to the to edge of perm. 20 more shots would be plenty and being able to top up from big job at home, heaven? May not even be possible?

bruno22rf
I use the S410 most days but can honestly say I rarely need to recharge "in the field" - shooting "branchers" is the only exception although I find myself less keen to carry out such control these days (must be getting soft) - I sometimes carry a 3ltr 300bar Alloy tank in my car - it's only 18" high and 6" dia and weighs next to nothing - but cannot remember the last time I needed it. old man
Still with Air Arms chaps, may as well carry the big tank in car as a 3ltr. Looking for the unobtainable maybe but car too far to return for a recharge. Will consult with suppliers to paint ball chaps for their advice. chrisjpainter
I believe you can get 500cc top up bottles that are designed to be portable fill up points? I may be making that up. I will have a google...
chrisjpainter
aha! 500cc bottle, 250 bar http://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=557 The thing is, they're pretty expensive. £125. It'd do for perhaps a couple of fills of an FAC gun?

figgy
If you want to stay with the same rifle and want to refill in the field a small bottle or stirrup pump is the only option you have. Go buy a small lightweight cylinder you feel you can carry with you. Another option is to buy a buddy bottle and fit an adapter and valve to refill your gun from it.
