Bigstep
Been to Oliver's mount this weekend watching the racing and was very surprised to see the lack of run off protection on most of the bends. There were no hay bales in front of post and rail fences even thou that would be the path of the motorcycle if the rider lost it, I only mentioned this to my wife yesterday and to day there has been spectators injured and the races cancelled. Has anybody else been to watch the racing here?
Sprinter
Watched it? I've been racing there, went off big style at the second hairpin. Scattered half a dozen marshals and ran over their lunch......
Velocette
Fantastic place,,,raced there on sidecars in the late 60s and early 70s,,,that slip road into the pits,,after the start was handy at times. The last time I raced there was at a Classic meeting when my mount was a Mk1 Guzzi LeMans ! That was a beast to get turned round the twisties,,,like driving an articulated truck. Bazooka Joe
Watched Barry Sheen there years ago, he ended up lapping the field. I cannot remember seeing any bales etc then, the first corner from the start a tight lefthander, then up the bank under the bridge was a hot spot. Used to stay at the Blue Dolphin in the back of a CF Beford Van, happy days..

cuffy
On the ticket it says motorsport is dangerous . Pointing out the risks to other folk who wouldn't go to these events may well get the health and safety hand wringers involved .
mickyh
It's Road Racing and its dangerous. Bloody great fun though, I too went straight on at the second hairpin in the late 70's on a TZ350F Broke my right wrist and it still hurts today. I wish I could turn the clock back, I'd do it all over again. The 2 strokes were something else handling wise. Living up North it was Croft, Elvington or Olivers Mount. Too far to Knockhill and miles to Mallory Park or Cadwell.
bear-uk
Aggo was racing the last time I was there. Some guy got his head caved in on the bridge. Its always been a dangerous place.
AberFowl
Used to live local and watched every meet for years. My dad (Paul Clay) used to race there in his younger years...I could never afford to unfortunately
matone
Unfortunately the cotton wool brigade would stop everything that has an element of danger, justwhat we `d be left with is a mystery..... Great circuit Olivers Mount, been dozens of times over the years.

SpringDon
Don’t like to get all health &safety but I do think superbikes have out grown the place. But I also think that about Cadwell.

Bigstep
I have had bikes all my life and accept the risks involved in riding them and all the riders who race accept these risks but I was surprised at the lack of barriers hay bales etc at Oliver's mount. The races were called off yesterday after a second bike injured spectators
