greenergp
I find the the "Brass" on shotgun shells really gets rusty pretty quickly, it can stop the cartridge fitting the gun chamber at times. Has anyone used Dubbin or any other weatherproofing compound on the the brass to stop it from rusting so quickly.
landy george
I always keep them in a sealed plastic container & only take out what I need. Any rusty rubber them with fine wire wool & a smear of Vaseline.
oldypigeonpopper
hello, RWS subs have a greasy film on lead bullet that might be worth looking into to see what the substance is,
Konnie
Put mine in a drawstring flannel/wash sack and also put a napier wipe in there after I have used it on my gun, I have 2 of these and only take 5 cartridges out at a time 3 in gun 2 in pocket and use same bag until empty,
figgy
You can buy the waterproofing liquid in a bottle to do your cartridges like Winchester drylocks. I’d wipe the heads with light oil it won’t gum the gun up.
moondoggy
Japanese Camellia Oil is used to protect samurai swords and carving tools etc. Might be worth a try.
johnnytheboy
Becareful with this, one of my friends tried wd40 and the plastic was separating off the brass, I read good quality car polish is meant to be good!
Stonepark
Any heavy oil (or grease) will do, wipe on and off with a cloth. One gent i used to know used lard, only problem was smell if they were sitting around too long.
Continental Shooter
I always keep them in a sealed plastic container & only take out what I need. Any rusty rubber them with fine wire wool & a smear of Vaseline. +1 best, most economic way. A quick dry with a cloth once home will keep them safe for years. As said certain oils can alter the plastic compound making it unstable or weak; they can also alter the performance of your cartridge or, worse infiltrate in the powder compartment
