You get no idea of the noise here even turned up loud, there is a reason they wear ear defenders - watch the crowd arround 50 secs think I'd **** myself too
Dunkield
Never tire of watching that one, for those who don't know these engines are started on petrol and then they pull nitro through once up and running. You can clearly hear the engine note change at the start, middle and end - as the crowd behind soon discover

Rupert
At The BBMF members day, and i daresay at other days too they fly all 5 Spit hurricane, lanc,Dakota over and away into the distance which in its self is a noise, while they take turns to land the aircraft on lucky chap brings the spitfire in at full chat and performs some stunts to entertain. its a very agile airplane. Also stood at the waters edge of Ladybower The two lancasters came over, i have a video on my phone 8 merlins, the location and the old boys with there caps off and the Blazers with medals A Grand day out. The vulcan coming out of finningley at full frape, a different but memorable sound too. Edited January 23, 2018 by Rupert

arm3000gt
Hard to beat a Top fuel dragster on 4 sec pass, a strangely pleasant, unpleasant noise. I'm also partial to 2 stroke v8 diesel. Don't know why they are so big. How do you shrink them a little? PhilR
For me as a child of the 50's, the ultimate sound is the Merlin engine closely followed by this, another beautiful piece of British engineering. Finally and can only live on in my memory is gunning my 1983, high revving, 2.5 litre Alfa GTV6 with a modified exhaust system through the tunnels on the way home from Italy. Sunroof slid open and windows down the sound reverberating off the walls and roof was exhilarating. Not quite enjoying it so much was the better half slumped in her seat with fingers in her ears???.
