catchthepigeonmutley
Anyone know how I can unlock a car radio? My lad's old Fiesta that he is learning to drive in came back from the garage with the radio (the most important part of the whole vehicle, to him) needing a security code. The handbook only advises to take it to a Ford dealer, for which service they will be wanting silly money, no doubt (I remember years ago taking my Dad's Sierra to the Ford dealer for a tiny bulb and they wanted a tenner all those years ago for an 'official' Ford bulb). I've had a look online and the only sites I can find seem to be payment sites. Don't mind paying a small amount, but just wondered if there was a way of doing it myself as unable to get it back to the garage any time soon as they don't open on Saturday's. Anyone got any thoughts or advice? Cheers all...
bluesj
Have a search for a radio code generator, put model and serial number in and it spits out a code
ferguson_tom
It should be written down in the service book or possibly the handbook. If not try looking on ebay you should be able to get it for a couple of quid at the most. eg: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Radio-Unlock-Code-M-V-Serial-Escort-Fiesta-Focus-Mondeo-Transit/291745224323?hash=item43ed5ed683:g:wj8AAOSwhcJWN9F5 Edited January 24, 2018 by ferguson_tom
Rewulf
A lot of the older ford codes will come as part of auto data packages that most garages have on their diagnostic kit, if you have a friendly local garage, ask them if they would help. You will need to take it out though for the serial number.

JimLondon
Take the radio out, sometimes a previous owner may have written the code on the radio, other than that get the serial number of the radio and google it. Try 8941 as a long shot
stuartc44
Which model radio is it? 6000 etc.
stuartc44
If you can find a serial no. on the unit that begins with an 'M' or by:- Turn on the unit Hold down buttons 6 and 1, and then release 6 (keep 1 pressed). The unit will then cycle through a load of stuff. The first screen ends with the serial number of the device: Mxxxxxx Then try here: (It's free) http://www.pumapeople.com/decode.php This worked for my ford 6000 unit. Stuart. Hendrix's rifle
If you can get me the code (you need the keys, 4 in total 1 in each corner there a pain) I will get it from Ford free. Be careful of some sites for the code as a few codes like the V codes can' be had from them. Pull the stereo out of if you can get behind it by going under the glovebox you may be able to get your phone behind it for the code. catchthepigeonmutley
Right chaps - thanks for your replies, got it sorted now. Before I tried any of your suggestions I thought I would have a quick look in the audio part of the owners handbook, and lo and behold it was written on the inside back cover, despite the son in question assuring me he had looked.
