Damaged Stock With Swivel/Stud

Finally got round to installing the supplied studs on my Anschutz 1517, wish I hadn’t bothered now.

Drilled a 4mm hole. Front one went fine.

Rear stud. Same hole. Countersunk a little bit so the thread would start.

Started threading it in and it’s chipped the stock.

The little chip of wood fell off and I’ve put aside for safe keeping.

Can the chip be glued back in. Starting to think I should have put the swivel further forward now too looking at my other rifle. God know why manufacturers don’t install the studs from the factor!

Think my stock studs have either a black or white small rubber washer between them and the wood, get one and it may even cover the chip.

Bit of a stomach sickener, although it’s still a lovely rifle mate as long as it shoots nice.

I purposely bought a beat up 17 hmr rifle for this reason. When my idiot mate knocked it over we laughed and said “which of the 20 dents did you just do?”
