Andy W
I had it for about 10 months, it came and went, my mum said at the time that "it will burn it self out" which it did, can be very painful. A sprain bandage around the joint, Ralgex, tiger balm all help.

vole
I have tennis elbow and golfers bloody elbow diagnosed on right side. They said if treated EARLY it will respond but if neglected will be permanent.I had physio which was useless.I had to pack in martial arts classes.Think i did 1 push up too many. After a year and a half it has eased alot but last year sounded like yours.Get it sorted best you can ie keep on at the doc if no improvement.Best of luck, sure you will not be this bad for long. palombier
Lancs Lad It's a matter of time and patience. It will go in the end but if it gets really bad you can get a cortisone injection from a doctor. One doctor told me to take an Ibuprofen(neurofen) tablet a day to help reduce the inflammation/pain. I've been rid of it for about 6 months now. Good luck P
Devilishdave
There is a lot of good advice above. I have had tenis elbow brought on by weight training for about 10 years. I was only doing 25Kg dumbells unlike some monster above that was doing 40KG!! now that is serious weights. I had ultrasound which eased it and massage dirct on to the tendon. Baisicly the tendon has scar tissue on it and it hurts when it runs back and forwards. you need to try a brake down the scar tissue. try and get ice ion it each night until the area in numb then manipulate it by massage direct to the affected area. Ten years on mine is a lot better and day to day it doesn't hurt but after one set of bicept curls I will feal it. I can do hammar curls all day without it flairing up so thats what I stick to now. perhaps it doesn't target the exact muscle area I want to but it is a good compramise. lets hope you have better long tearm results. Have you been to see ya doctor, might be you need it opened up to let the rubbish out, 8 weeks is a while for it to stay like that, ive had it on both sides at differentn times, nothing major to worry about, its just the pain!! Best see the doctor again and bully him into doing something more about it, anti biotics maybe.

I got mine from using a slide hammer to remove seized rear wheel hubs on E36 beemers. After reading all the replys you have had I am now more than a bit concerned about the damage as it must have started about 5 years ago. The worse thing about it is when you knock your elbow on a door frame and it makes your eyes water LB
palombier
LL No didn't need the cortisone it just went. I tried to avoid situations where I would aggravate it. P
me and my lad
if youve got no swelling try glucosamine, should sort it out. you mught be best using chondrointant (sp?) first for a month or two.
MC
Go and see your Doctor, when he shows you the size of the needle used in the injection it suddenly goes away. I had it for years when I was working part time on a commercial fishing boat through constantly hauling nets and lines. Touch wood I haven't had it for a while. berettaman1
yep L B, I too get that feeling in the elbow if I catch it on the door frame or such, I have had to pack the weightlifting in since my elbow got ruptured, I am ok at lifting anything now, except as you say when you catch your elbow against anything. mikky
can't lift a pint up......must be serious  ..at the moment i keep getting pains from my wrist to my elbow  ..my doc said i have carpul tunnel syndrome cos i have 7 seperate fractures in my wrist, apparently i can have an op and it could make it better...or paralyse my right arm if it goes wrong .....i get some stick the day after a 50 bird on the shotty
henry d
Read this, L.E. and see if it`s the same symptoms, carpal tunnel syndrome is different to L.E. (tennis elbow). I`ve had it for a while and the treatment is to stop what irritates and do the approved build up exercises.
death from below
As someone siad the best way is to directly massage the area yourself....thats all a physio so it will save you 40 quid a pop.....also try a tens machine(about 40 quid from boots) and strap it to yuor sore area( the elbow not your ring piece) for 10 mins a day and that will help
