Hmmm??? That's where I have been going wrong, always done it the other way, now I know why my old handicraft/woodwork teacher also went on about measure twice cut once. Problem was I was brought up with a Granddaddy who used finger tip to elbow as 18inches and his span of little finger to thumb tip as 9 inches and width of his thum pad as 1 inch. Joking aside, I am impressed with the precision of the cutting of the slit aahhhh shucks you say the nicest of things.................... used a dremel cutting disc then chaned it for a diamond cylinder router...which i did by hand......had to practice first tho..
