guzzicat
Seventeen year old ( unnamed as a child) jailed for sixteen months over fatal stabbing of another teen during a drugs deal. Comes from a well off family in the better part of Manchester.Hmm ! I wonder if the sentence would have been the same for a simillar person from a city centre sink estate.? Gordon R
He was acquitted of murder and manslaughter. He got off very, very lightly with 16 months for lying to the Police and possession of a flick knife. I cannot comprehend how this happened. Rewulf
4 minutes ago, henry d said: Ability to afford a good lawyer? Maybe. A successful defence based on self defence (the victim also had a knife) The stab victim was of Lebanese descent and was awarded a scholarship to the 'posh' school, he and the other boys in his gang took aboard the culture of knife toting gangsters, and were attempting to do a massive drug robbery of £45 to confirm their status of kingpins in the hood. Much has been said about how the victim, being of a less affluent background, and a person of colour to boot, didnt get the justice he deserved. Maybe lessons learned, maybe not, but it gives the lie to the issue of gangs and knife crime being the preserve of the poor and disadvantaged inner city dwellers. The victim took on the culture, lived by it , and died by it, when he didnt need to at all.

henry d
Perhaps it's time for another kind soul to ask their ethnicity? For their own curiosity of course.

I already stated it for the purpose of clarifying why the victims family thought the accused 'got away with it' But have a quick virtue signal anyway 😂
NoBodyImportant
The light sentence may be from the fact that it was done during a drug deal. Probably would have been longer had the murder happened at a fishing tournament.
