malkiserow
Hi Gem, I see your in Market Drayton, so very near...... get down to Price Street in Birmingham .... The gun workshops there will give you good advice. There are lots of different companies but see any and they will introduce you to the right chaps to check the gun out. From what you said ..... expect the worst and prepare for a new gun.
starlight32
Bent/dented barrels can still be repaired and used.
Ferret Master
Would a new set of barrels be an option? FM

tikkamark
I would not have thought there would be near enough weight in a straw bale to bend a barrel of a shotgun definitly not especially if you could push the bale around Is someones telling porkies! Bails are very heavy, however they are round, you can move your car, but thats very heavy

Markio
Trust me, it's very easy to put a dink in a shotgun barrel. I can easily believe that something such as a big round bail could bend them too. You'd think that if a shotgun barrel could withstand that internal compression etc then they would be very tough but don't let that fool you. bobby t
dunno if this was just farmer talk, but a local farmer told me that those giant round bales actually weigh in at around 1 tonne, there was even an article in a magazine telling about a guy who was crushed when one roled over onto him. think it was in a obituary actually
Millomite
They weight between 500-700kg http://www.ruralni.gov.uk/index/livestock/...lage/winter.htm
al4x
depending on the compression of the bailer they are closer to 250kgs but some of the big square bales go over 500kgs. While you might be able to roll a bale over a gun on the flat and it survive fields are rarely that flat so I can see how one would bend the barrels and as fister said on a cheap gun just get rid of it and start again it won't be worth repairing
Dunkield
It's all a bit irrelevant, but if the bale was wet it would add to it's weight considerably (I know a lot of them are wrapped so that not happen) I know 'cos our JRT loves to get under the small ones after rats, and looks up to me to as if to say 'well get thing off the ground so I get under it then"
