I had a letter from my water supplier (Severn Trent) with this letter came a leaflet advertising plumbing care for the property by Homserve without going into a long story I would be extremely careful before I took this offer up poor service doesn't even begin to describe it. 🙁

My mother has had completely the opposite experience. 80p a month or something daft they’ve just been out to replace a seized internal stop tap, fix an external small underground leak and are coming out today to replace some very old pipe fittings that are past it.

We had it in a previous house and they had to replace part of our supply pipe and proved to be a bargain.

I have Homeserve for plumbing/heating and electrics. Brilliant service from them. On each occasion I've had to call them out, in most cases, they have called the next day, unless it's an emergency.

Scare monger selling tactics, tell you it will cost thousands to repair water pipes up to your house and all the other baloney that the print out. All the years ive been a home owner i have never had the need to call out a water company to repair my pipe work, they cant cope with their own water systems.  

I wouldnt waste my money on that insurance policy.

Some years ago I did have Homeserve cover and they did two different rates. One covered just leaks to pipes and the there everything to changing a tap washer. It then changed to the later and increased to double the price so cancelled as the majority of the cover I could do myself

Had it myself £1 a month. Sprung a leak in my supply pipe they came out within 48 hours. Dug up my concrete slab outside fixed the leak and relaid new concrete, faultless performance!

I’ve just had to have all the concrete floors pulled up and a new water main installed, old akalyte piping incoming had been leaking under the slab for years and the copper had been laid directly into the concrete, promoting corrosion.

If I had homeserve it would have been nice

There are obviously time that it turns out to be a good choice to pay into these things, but i look at the odds of something like that happening, and i suppose to it depends on the size of the property. 

I only live in a small house, small bills, small worries and big toy bills. 😉
