JDog
Clodhopper has watched this field for a week or so and thought it might be worth a go this afternoon. When I say 'field' I mean several fields rolled into one extending to 110 acres. Guess what, the pigeons we saw when we arrived wanted to land right slap bang in the middle. This would take some ingenuity if we were to get a reasonable bag. Covering the better line in seemed to be a reasonable option but this meant that the birds would be high and might just sail on by over the decoys. This is what happened so we set up at the opposite side of the hedge and shot them as driven birds entering the field. My companion is now set on using 28 gram cartridges in 7 1/2 shot and he does well with them. I was using my old favourite Miroku and cartridges filled with rice and Christmas cake, such was the ineffectiveness of my shooting. Thank goodness no one was watching. We ended up with 36 pigeons shot with six lost in very thick rape. Barney did very well considering that he had no visibility in the rape and there would be no air scent. I set off in foggy conditions. We must be mad. This is what happens when the cable is not long enough. Cold and wet at the end of our session. kenholland
we have all been there , don't worry , you will make up for it , I know you will it's , it's still more than most of us have shot lately .
Clodhopper
There were good a number of pigeons using this field but we did not quite get to grips with them and neither of us shot particularly well. I am not sure about Christmas cake cartridges but there was a constant rustle of sweet wrappers emanating from JDogs hide , he must have had quite a picnic. GingerCat
You have to be in it to win it. Good effort in poor conditions.
7daysinaweek
I can vouch for them 'Festive' brand of cartridges JD, I've been shooting them most of my life however, the difference is you ended up with 36 from which I would have had many, many less. Well done for getting out in that pea soup. atb 7diaw

dad
I was out in the wind on monday under a good flightline birds coming low straight at me 20ft high dancing on the wind then flairing to get over the trees at my back had to take them in front so i could pick up on some bare rape 40 shots for 9 down shocking. Odd misfire on clever carts didnt help fired if i put them back in again.
