Lloyd90
Well we went for a visit again today just to make sure the pick of the pup was right for us. When we first visited the two L&W pups showed us the most interest, my Mrs liked the other one from me but later changed her mind. The stud dog owner picked his one and picked the L&W dog that we didn't want thankfully (we all thought he would pick the B&W dog) so we said we will take the other L&W in that case that he had picked originally anyway. My mate however reckoned (and still does) that the B&W dog is the nicest dog there, more stylish etc and a lot smaller (second smallest in the litter). We went down anyway to see them and just have a look, and my mate said bring our current Springer Ted (Ted is all up to date on Jabs and everything) and will be with the pup next week so took him down. My mate has 2 golden retrievers and a lab anyway so the pups have been well socialised with other dogs around playing and all sorts. I got the two dogs left out on their own and we put them in the kitchen where Ted was alreadty waiting just to carefuly introduce. Ted was brilliant, just came over for a light sniff but was very good. The B&W dog looked at Ted and thought sod that, gave a little yelp and ran and went underneath one of those raised beds. Well, Arnie that we have picked wasn't quite so unsure. The bold little ****** charged right up to Ted, stuck his nose in his face for a good snuff, and then tried to have a play with him. He is a bold little ****** let me tell you. I am very very happy with our pick, hes definately the boldest I think and the one that's into everything and all sorts of mischief. I think he will be a right ****** Once the B&W dog came out he was fine as well and had lots of cuddles, despite us not liking him last time he was a totally different dog this week, he had lots of cuddles with Amy and was nice, he reminded us a lot of Ted as a pup but I was looking for something with a bit more go in it and more confident to train and see how he compares. Managed to snap a little vid of Arnie, he likes to follow Ted although had no problem making his own way over to the grass piles and bombing through it. Got a feeling he won't have any issues with cover lol. I will be training them seperately, and keeping them apart unless supervised when home. Got kennel panels coming this week to setup a run in the garage for a bit of away time when we are wanting him to have a time out, similar to a crate but with lots more room. Here he is... Excuse the high pitch pup pup pup ... they don't know their names yet Edited June 28, 2020 by Lloyd90
ninjaferret
Only a quick glance but I like the black and white that one leads, the other follows. Edited June 28, 2020 by ninjaferret

B725
Your going to have some fun with that one, as you know their personality can change and at that age its difficult to know for sure how it will turn out. Good luck with the little fella and keep us updated. 👍
Dave at kelton
Good luck with the new pup. You are very wise keeping the dogs apart unless supervised. I noted how, when they spend a lot of time together, they look to each other rather than me with my last pup. Never had it before but this pup is in the house for the first few months having a crate and penned area in the front porch to make sure that doesn’t happen again. He won’t go into the kennels for a couple of months when I have created the bond I want.
Lloyd90
D-Day arrived we got back home around 2pm. Ted doesn’t mind the new arrival but is mostly stand off-ish. The pup (understandably) isn’t quite as bold as when at home... he’s finding his feet but settling in well at the moment, had two meals, 3 poops and peeps in the garden, 1 pee in the house 🤣 and lots of cuddles! He has got a set of lungs on him, had a right howl last night but been good today, putting him in the kennel for periods with Ted and he is ok. Ted is a bit put out though. He also really don't like it when the pup whines and makes noise. He always has been a little funny when someone elses dog makes a whine or noise or something. He comes to me for reassurance. Lloyd90
Arnies only training so far has been house training, and to be fair he’s been brilliant. Every time he’s taken outside he does a pee, and yday on day 2 the back door was open and he took himself outside, did a pee and came back inside with no prompts. He is having short periods alone in the kennel away from Ted and is getting better at settling on his own, although mostly he is being handled, cuddled and played with a lot. I do really like having a kennel / run that I can put him away in and know that he can’t come to any harm or trouble but also have him close by to get lots of contact when wanted

Lloyd90
Arnies training has been very limited so far as I am mostly leaving him be. He is about 4 months (ish) now I think, he has done a few retrieves in the hall way and delights in running downstairs to find something, bring it to you and then go off and bring you something else. He is a natural carrier and loves to bring it to you. That is until you take him outside of the house, where he likes to pick the retrieve and then proceed to do loop de loops around you with great joy and pride ... that is unless he just decides to drop the retrieve and wonder off to have a sniff of something ... a most annoying habit 🤣 I have took a back step from doing anything outside at the moment and back to the hall... I have found if I sit in my office chair he brings it back and jumps up on me to place the ball into my hand with his head held high, a nice little trick. This evening I called in on a good field trialler and judge to query my problem, he laughed as he has a little cocker pup that is doing the same at the moment. He showed me how he uses place board to train the dog to sit, come in and deliver all very well, so tonight two quality place boards have been ordered and I will start doing some very basic sit and wait stuff with Arnie before moving on to the retrieve ... and see if this gets him to come straight back into me ... Heres hoping He is coming along nicely over all, he is very swanky and will have a lot of style. He is bolder in cover than Ted was already and when he gets the zoomies is hilarious to behold. He is a cheeky character with an independent streak, but overall seems quite soft natured despite being bolder and confident in other areas. I am looking forward to starting to do little bits with him now

Lloyd90
They are best buds these days Those last two are from some time ago ... we are getting our place boards delivered tomorrow, started a bit of sit and wait training tonight, he tried to move a few times but was getting the hang of it pretty quick, only did 2-3 minutes and lots of playing and fun cuddles thrown in
