Jim Neal
I've got a very similar model to yours by the looks of it.Β Sometimes it plays up like that, you have to give the crown a bit of a twist/jiggle, also make sure the cap is on plumb central..... but it sounds like you've got past that stage, I'm sure you'd have figured it out by now if it was that easy. The biggest problem I have with mine is the main oven has a tendency to go out - usually shortly after lighting it but sometimes even when warmed up.Β It's a real pain if you stick it on to warm up and then come back 20 minutes later to a cold oven!Β It's been responsible for the death of a few Yorkshire puddings too, having gone out when I've shut the over door after putting the tray of batter in. I'd write it off and get something better, Zanussi used to be a quality brand but I fear that's not the case any more.
ditchman
best gas cooker i ever bought was an old cannon.....it had the flip up eye level grill ...which doubled as a rotisery......i used to bone out a shoulder of lamb and tie it up and do it on the rotisary..............it was sublime dont think they make them anymore now....... This ^ I'm afraid. We just replaced an electric Zanussi which rusted through the top oven. We bought the brand because of the brand reputation, never again.Β Gone back to a Belling.Β

Funny you should say that about the oven as ours has a tendency to turn itself off.

harrycatcat1
Hypothetically, if I got the blowlamp on the thermal-do-da thing and the gas didn't stop on do you think I could safely say that it's not operating correctly? Be careful with the blowlamp, don't let the flame play on the enamel, it may cause it to blow/flake. Think you need to try and remove the top, you can then use a multimeter to test the thermocouple, or as TIGHTCHOKE said, Pay someone to come and look at it OR buy a replacement. Saltings
take the enamel top offΒ there will be a tiny pipe coming from the thermocouples follow it back to the tap there will be a nut holding the tiny tube into the tap gutsΒ either undo this and clean the bulb end with some wire woolΒ will look like it has a bit of lead in the middleΒ and re fit and tighten down snugΒ Β before you undo check if the nuts are tight if not usually the problemΒ Β had this problem with a stoveΒ less than a month oldΒ the nuts were looseΒ 8mm spanner if memory serves
