Ratlegs
Morning All Just wondering Has anyone any knowledge about Hatsan .22 springer FAC Do I buy one or upgrade a HW80 Many thanks in advance
steve_b_wales
I can't comment on the Hatsan, as I didn't even know they did a FAC version. I would however, suggest that you just buy a FAC air rifle, rather than getting one modified. There's plenty of good second hand ones out there. I've got an Air Arms S410 Xtra and it's brilliant. Pushing out 28ft/lb.
Vince Green
As I understand it the Hatsan springer as made in its original spec was only marginally above the max power for the UK market. The problem was overcome by lopping a bit off the spring for the UK. So theoretically all you need to do of fit an original spring. However, it would hardly be worth it. Although you would be creating something which is legally an FAC air rifle it wouldn't have the clout of Steve's rifle.
Ultrastu
In .177 a springer doing around 15 / 16 fpe could be a good tool .the issue would be the extra recoil hold sensitivity that comes with it .if I were to go this route I'd choose an air arms tx200 or hw 80 / 97 . I'd leave the hatsan out of the equation . Yes it probably could make the power but I'd suspect it wouldn't be able to hit much . As for .22 unless you can get it to around 23 fpe with a light pellet I wouldn't bother . Also the recoil could be lively to say the least . There is little point in going fac air unless you can get much above 850 fps in my opinion .
figgy
Go fac air, plenty of cheap rifles around that will shoot much nicer and give more power than a awful to shoot wound up jumpy boinger.
Vince Green
souped up springers don't deliver the pressure in the right way at the right time to give consistancy. Too much air trying to get forced into a little hole against the resistance of a big spring. Springers are great in the mid range but you can't make them more than they are
old man
FWIW, from experience don't go down the FAC springer route, I had a new 1 for a few weeks, it gave a hernia to cock and kicked like a mule. Special scope and mounts required too. A disaster, seriously.

Ultrastu
Not surprised. They are well known to be very difficult to shoot even if your built like arnie . I still profess to thinking a tx200 in .177 would be good at 16fpe . 925 fps with jsb exact sound give a 40 yd zero and almost aim bang on out to 50 yds Would be useful . old man
My s410 xtra runs at 30 ftib and is zeroed at 50 yds. My only slight whinge as age progresses is that it's a tad heavy to cart about.

It measured 13ftlb over the smiths chrono. Their reply. well it's over 12 so FAC. They lost a customer then. It was never smooth despite the smiths best effort at 18 ftlb. Both were rubbish to shoot. The Patriot had to be cocked by using both arms between the knees. IMO for FAC forget springers.

Excellent rifle which doesn't get used much. Mine was chrono'd over a gun smiths certified job. Mine was used a lot for sqizzers out to 80 yds, till the perm went. Still chasing new ones but hindered by lock down.

I run 18 grain jsb’s at 34.5 ft lbs, tried them at 40 ft lb (1000fps) and they’re really zinging, but don’t achieve any better results, just use more air imo.
