MC
I shot the Essex County Fullbore Rifle Championships at Bisley today. We shot 2 sighters and 10 to count at 300, 500, 600, 900 and 1000yds (All with open sights and no bipod). The wind was a little tricky (well I thought so) and I finished on 219/250 with 14 "V" bulls. I won the "TYRO" trophy which is for any competitor who hasn't won any major competition.Which coincidentally is the first trophy that my Dad won 38 years ago. I now go from "T" class to "O" class. Bring on the Imperial Meeting next year.

MC
I know, I don't get the classes thing either. Maybe the NRA thought it was too easy to just use A, B, C etc.
pin
Well done martin, at bisley you clearly had all the gear and were pulling off some amazing shots, well done to you sir
Catamong
Smash and grab raid @ Horne (Gatton Bottom) today with garyb, I had my prizes from last time out to collect too Catmong said he might be there and duly rolled into the carpark early doors. Actually he might well have left it with high gun too, a master-class carding 95ex100 and it should have been 97 really. I think that will probably have won it, we will see. A real pleasure to watch someone of that standard shoot I faired slightly worse, stupid misses etc but carded 76ex100 and was winning C class when I left. I felt 85 was on the cards for me if I had been concentrating. garyb had what you might call a very bad day at the office, really below his ability. I think he's struggling wearing glasses, worse still the ones I lent him are officially **** Well, believe it or not, my 95 was good enough to take High Gun, despite missing a complete pair of silly overhead birds on the second to last stand. It should have been a 97, but..., hey ho..., a win's a win as they say, and my good mate Alex was r/u on 91. , just relieved the big fella's packed up for the Winter. I was very impressed with both Pins & Garyb's performance, Pin was smoking them right from the word go, just losing a bit of concentration on one or two stands, but still returned a superb score, keep going matey, you'll be up in A class within a year, despite the patter of tiny feet..!! It was a bit of a "baptism of fire" for Gary, having never shot the ground before, but he certainly didn't disgrace himself, stayed pretty cool, I think he needs a bit of practice on the skeet range to grind up those targets, and he's then going to show his true potential on a Sporting layout, keep going matey, you've got time on your side. I then dashed around the M25 / M4 to 4 Counties near Newbury, a lovely little ground, very well run, where they had a 50 bird Sporting re-entry, bumped into Jonesy in the clubhouse, we decided to shoot the round together, started on the pool shoot alongside Richard Faulds, who was having a decidedly off day.. , and couldn't straight it, (nor could Jonesy or I :( ), we then shot the Sporting layout together, and despite Jonesy being a tad fragile after a serious Saturday night , she was one up on me after the first 2 stands, I thought, (oh no....here we go... :( ), anyway she continued to shoot a blinding score in the Ladies class and finished on a 44 ex 50, which put her in the top 10 overall, and 4 birds clear of the nearest Lady..!! I scraped in with a 47 in the Mens class, Richard Faulds got his act together and returned a 50 straight, I think there were also a couple of 48's on re-entry cards, so I was probably 4th equal, all in all a very high standard of scores, and believe me, it was no gimme of a layout, Jonesy shot superbly, soooo steady, despite the hangover..!! All in all, a great day, really enjoyed shooting in superb company with Pin, GaryB and Jonesy, keep it up guys and gals, I'm so pleased you all shot so well. Cat. P.S. - AAA Man, thanks for your kind words, and very well shot to you as well, see you at Weston Wood next Sunday..??
LEFTY478
Had a bit of a busy weekend but manged to escape for an hour (or 3) on Saturday morning. Didn't want to spend much time travelling so headed to Bisley Gun Club (just round the corner from home) and shot a few practice rounds of DTL. I've not been shooting very long - got my first gun in March this year - but have been averaging 23/25. Shot the first round and scored 20/25, then the second and another 20/25, the third and fourth were the same. Decided to try one more and started even worse, dropped 3 on the first peg and one on the next. I'm starting to suspect I'm getting a bit a cross eye domination. Keep my left eye closed for the rest of the round, except after mounting the gun and actually firing and started hitting them much better 'till dropping the last bird of the round. Still 21/25 best of the day. I hummed and harred about giving up and going home as it obviously wasn't my day, but dispite a few people suggesting that 'trying to chase a higher score' was likely to do more harm than good, I decided to have one more crack. Shot my first straight 25. OK there were five second barrel kills but I was still very happy with that.

Mungler
Yep, getting a second barrel kill is actually harder than getting the first so good result (and done the hard way)

Catamong
It's at times like this I wish I was an amoeba and could sub-divide, therefore being able to be in 2 places at one time, 'cos that's what I'd need to do, as I'm shooting the Inter Counties FITASC at Southdown on Sunday 14th, I've been picked for the Herts team, so our head to head will have to wait for another day. Sorry to disappoint you Jonesy Cat.

Emmsy
see you at Weston Wood next Sunday..?? head to Longridge aswell, usually better targets than the clay shooting company puts on!
Catamong
I've shot Longridge a couple of times, target quality is OK, not the most exciting ground I've ever shot, but it's a 206 mile round trip for me. That's a long way to go for a round of 100 Sporting. Cat.

Well shot AAA man, I can't shoot a 96 at Skeet nowadays, that's brilliant shooting..!! Weston Wood was a fair layout, a couple of tricky stands, but generally "bread & butter" targets, I'm afraid I let too many slip away and could only manage a mediocre 85. Blocko was there first thing before he went on to Longridge and he managed an 88, but Chris Childerhouse also shot 1st thing and turned in a storming 95, very good shooting, I couldn't see that getting beat. Next week it's FITASC at Southdown, that'll be a good layout, I think it's about 6 or 7 years since I shot any Registered FITASC, so should be fun..?? I'm also having a crack at the ZZ's at the A1 on Wednesday with Jonesy and a few others, can't wait. Cat.
paulos
Nowhere near the heights of some of you chaps, but shot a 100 A/R today: 50 Sporting, 25 Skeet and 25 ABT. Managed 39,24,24 to finish on an 87. Sporting score was disappointing. Skeet will do but should (as always ) have straighted it. But I was very happy with my ABT score, as I rarely break a 20, more usual for me to get a 13-15! Round 1 of the winter series done, can't wait for the next one now
