Cars missing the load covers

Just browsing cars as you do and I have notice a fair few seem to be missing the load covers. 
 

seen a fair few Range Rovers and a lot of estates. 
 

but why. Is there a secret market for these things as they are not the easiest to misplace.

Taken out day 1 so full load space is useable, usually forgotten about and either get mouldy or damaged or chucked out.

It's so they can sell you one, same applies to the rubber mats.

On most of the estates they appear to be roller style so shouldn’t impact on the space unless the seats are down. 
 

I can understand for fitting dog boxes and the like. 
 

I just find it strange that there are almost as many missing as are complete

Taken out to utilise the space and they're surprisingly heavy. I have dogs and shooting gear in the back of my vehicles. Lot more room with these gone.

I was also surprised how much these fetch in new condition on ebay. If I had known that earlier mine would have been sold rather than gather dust in the garage.

That will probably be it. 
I have grabbed mine and you are correct they are heavy. 
to get a dog box up against the bulkhead would need the cover removed.

My Range Rover had 3, one was a mesh dog guard from seat back to roof and two different types of cover, 1 roll out and one hard that folded and was outrageously difficult to use one handed. I saw them on ebay upward of £200. That was after I refitted them to sell it🙄

A kid I new used to work at the car auctions and use to remove them and the mats and sell them on eBay as there worth a couple of quid.

When I worked at the car auctions I got sick of customers complaining their parcel shelves, mats, radio fronts etc had gone missing.

Yeah that was probably this kid lol. He did quite well out of it most of the time more than he got washing the cars

Mine is sitting in my log store 😳.

I think they are a pain in the bum when you are trying to get a dog cage, or shooting equipment, wading stick etc in. That's why I take mine out.
