enfieldspares
And even the Vicar from "Dad's Army" was involved in one re-capture! At Codnor Park Railway Station except Dr Beeching did for that. Not a lot of people know that. There's maybe a "Blitz Night" pub quiz question there somewhere? harrycatcat1
I never realised he'd played so many parts. As soon as I saw his picture I thought Flight of the Phoenix.

Gordon R
Aside from his acting, he served in the war and refused to ambush USA troops. For this he was sentenced to death. A man with a set of principles.

Gordon R
Whilst I think he was principled. I wonder what his fellow soldiers thought at the time.
Raja Clavata
Wasn't aware of his history but The Wild Geese was one of my favourite films as a child. Great actor, nice to know he was a great human too.

'Mad Mike' Hoare was an advisor on the film, one of his soldiers in Africa was a colourful character called 'Congo' Müller, a German mercenary who wore his Iron Cross on parade!
