Big state means big tax. Each government (and the Whitehall blob) encourage each generation to become more dependent on the state and less dependant on themselves. It’s all about growing the state and the machinery of governance. We really don’t need it and I don’t welcome some sort of soviet era ‘permission’ based system

It's coming, and has been for years.

You won't get a vote on it, because nearly all political parties, civil servants and councils are agreed on that being the way forward.

They will destract you with other things, and claim its necessary to continue 'our' way of life. Yet they have no concern for what we the people want, it's their own self preservation and enrichment they are interested in.

Complete control of every aspect of our lives is the end game.

The problem is, is that they are not competent and cannot out perform the ability of individuals to make their own choices by imposing a one size fits all solution which is what government attempts to do.

Unfortunately, I am coming to the conclusion that the only way to stop this shift into state control and then state enforced poverty is to disenfranchise anyone who does not pay net income taxes as those paying net taxes into the system are the ones supporting everyone else.

As a net contributor into the system I couldn’t agree more. I reckon over half of what I earn now goes in taxes one way or another (and yes I probably should get a more creative accountant) but even now I’m constantly told by socialist media that I need to still pay more… why?

If I thought I was getting value for money and not supporting the poorly run, the badly administrated and the feckless then I might feel happier but as far as I can tell my hard earned money just gets hosed up a public sector wall somewhere.

You only have to look at the influence the WEF have over a lot of the world's political leaders to see that. KS gladly boasts about it in his 'penetration' interview.

I was a 'net contributor' for about 47 years (aged 16 to 66 less a 3 years in university when I worked only about 12 weeks in each year, and may or may not have been a 'net' contributor as  I had a partial grant).  I reckon since I joined the 'higher' tax bracket about half way through overall (including taxes on spending) I have been paying over 50%.

I have 'taken out' a minor amount of NHS time (as I have been lucky with health), and about 3 months unemployment (following a redundancy in the 1980s).  I saved to fund retirement all my working life (over and above minimum requirements) and took early retirement at virtually 60 - since when I have had no state money out - living since retirement on my planned retirement fund.  Coming to 66 soon and at long last I will (as a pensioner) be drawing out and a 'net beneficiary'.

I agree.  I am (as I have said many times in these forums) very happy to support the genuinely disabled, sick, elderly, injured and similar members of our society and pay my contributions to the armed forces, Royal family, transport and similar infrastructure (not keen on HS2 though).  The Health Service is a hopelessly inefficient money pit, but 'politically untouchable' so no politician can tackle it.  I do not like to support the cheats wasters and 'bone idle' - and there do seem to be plenty of those around (including in Westminster itself).

but it was wrong - wrong for them - sod everyone else....

It would be interesting to see what Wishi's personal wealth has increased by over the years since 2020 - on a year by year breakdown. Jeremy Hunt is just a cockney saying for himself

Rushi Sunak is not particularly wealthy but he is married to money. That money is generated in India by his wife's family, not in Britain. That's why all this rubbish about his wifes tax status was really just a smear. She doesn't have an income in the UK.

Labour has a new tactic they dig into everybody's private lives to look for things they can smear people with.

Not new and both sides to it.  Most politicians (all flavours) are MUCH more interested in the negatives (i.e. how can I smear/diminish others) than doing well themselves.  The press are much better at publicising Labour's smears - because things like 'non dom' and 'great wealth' sell papers.

15 minute cities , you wont get a vote on it , and will be justified by using the 'climate emergency'
Smoke and mirrors , hiding lies and deceit , wrapped up in a sugar coating of pretending to care for our welfare.

Whoever runs the Tory party, and following the mess that was Johnson, Truss and now Sunak your guess is as good as mine, well they have lost touch with conservative voters, the silent majority and common sense.

Rishi has a chauffeur. He’s never filled a car up or tapped to pay for something. His wife is a billionaire. Appointing Rishi as leader and MPs granting themselves a pay rise whilst we face a cost of living crisis, inflation, strikes and a recession is just such a breathtakingly arrogant state of affairs.

Of all flavours, too.

An error of judgment under the current circumstances.

I brought this up at the shoot I go to on Saturday to be told I am basically a flat earther!!! The reality is that they are - have you seen the Russell Brand one - even more terrifying - and I know that people will again throw conspiracy theory - but this contains an actual presentation from the WEF jamboree at Davos

I get the impression that they have watch too many sci-fi films and think oh, that's a good idea.

Gattica, Terminator, etc, etc....

H.G. Wells came up with the idea for the robot. Now look at what's out there.

Sadly correct!

I meant to thumbs up this - this 15 minute cities idea is straight out of 1984

I was lucky enough to be forced to read 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, all quiet on the western front, Ivan Denisovitch, Wilfred Owen and a few other classics as part of what was then GCSE syllabus.

I look back at how so much of education was wasted on me, but how much sunk in and how our teachers were trying to open our eyes.

Regrettably, I've never read any of those books, I should do, but I know enough of the content to realise there were some very far sighted people back then. People who could see how the 'system' was going to pan out.

It's a future of fear and control, where we imprison ourselves with subtle coercion.

What was fiction, is becoming fact, yet most can't visualise or see it coming.

Deluded enough to get another pay increase?

Deluded enough to get a medal for poor performance?

Deludes enough to get a golden handshake for loosing?

No doubt all proposed by a third party who was put in place by them just for this purpose?

Reward for failure, that will be the UK?

Their arrogance may well illustrate a total contempt for the country and electorate?
