Agriv8
So if one of us were to get it right would you know we were right? How can you be sure it is fishing related? has it anything’s to do with the production of lures like the ones below?

All the rest of the bits and bobs in the box were "fishing related" and it was a "Sporting Auction" - I'm retiring from replying - it has been very interesting and a pleasure but as the device has gone to a new home I cannot see any point in carrying on. Over and out as they say!

old'un
I think this is a pressured striper plate die-set, although a bit of an odd way of creating linear movement the round brass ring pushes down on the thick brass plate moving the wedge shaped blade down and through the thin brass plate, the springs between the thick plate and the thin plate look to be made of thicker gauge wire, the springs below the thin brass plate being of lighter gauge wire will compress and hold something in place, it will then mark/cut/emboss what ever is on the nylon plate. Well that's what I think it does but have not got a clue what material its for.
