Kings Coronation Parade Practices

My eldest Son, along with approximately 7000 other military personnel are involved in the practices for the Coronation Parade.

Yesterday two full parades were carried out at RAF Odiham in Hampshire.

Previously they were at the Army Staff College at Sandhurst in Surrey.

Today the practice will be at Sandhurst again.

I bet the local coach firms are making a killing!

He is at Longmoor in an old barrack block with 50 other lads, two working showers and the water runs out before they all get through.

A pathetically small cook house for the 750 billeted there.

It would appear the military learned nothing from the late Queens funeral parade and its practices.

I hope the weather remains good for all of the practices and the main event.

Nice job  for coach drivers  transporting army and police to these events. trooping the colour and royal weddings.

Driving through red lights in convoy no stopping and parked cars removed plus the banter of the squaddies singing on the coach.

Guards sang a marching song.

to the left to the centre may the cheeks of your A**e never feaster as they marched.

Great day for your  son       But  we need to respect all our services better

RAF, poor cookhouse? WOW, that's a first. Somebody's in for the chop. Best slop jockeys I've come across the RAF.

Billets sound about normal though, no foresight the forces, all the money into goingto be seen to be PC and sod the lads.

He is in the Duke of Lancasters Regiment, accommodated for rehearsals at Longmoor, an ex army base and was practicing at RAF Odiham!

So many changes to so many regiments as the Army changes and reduces. It's hard to keep up with what's what. It's almost as if they change a regiments name along with it's CO.

This weekend every serviceman, woman and "other" changes from Queens Crown to Kings Crown, rank and cap badge, that alone must have cost a regiments yearly pay and then some.

For those that are unaware of what the difference is:

Queens Crown, Warrant Officer.

Kings Crown, Warrant Officer

and of course all the other badges that contain a crown
