steve_b_wales
After having the 1st jab, my wife was very ill and was rushed into hospital. She also had side effects with the next two, so is not going to have the latest one. Both of us had COVID in December 2020 and I went into hospital on Boxing day due to my oxygen level being low. It's left me with a slight weakness in my chest. My wife lost her taste and smell and to this day, it hasn't returned.
marsh man
Well an update on my jab , had mine two days ago , the vaccine was Pfizer and the young lady who done it certainly knew what she was doing as all I felt was a mild scratch , afterwards I sat down for a good ten minutes as I was driving , the rest of the day was no problem , yesterday was a lovely day so we both went out , I done quite a bit of walking and last night I did have a bit of a head ache and felt tied , but it might had been the strong sunshine and the amount of walking I done , today again no problem but my wife said her arm is sore , so all in all it wasn't that bad MM P S Sorry to hear about the ones who had a bad reaction . MM Here's a thought, the covid jab is still a fairly new vaccine so we do not know its long term effect on our body, as we all know vaccines work by stimulating a response from the immune system to make antibodies to combat a virus or bacterium should we catch one. Now in my case I seem to have a very good immune system as I very rarely catch a cold or flu, think the last time I had a cold was about 5 years ago, maybe longer. So some time after having my covid booster jab I went to bed one night feeling fine but the next morning I had a headache and pains in my neck and running down into my shoulders, within a week I was doubled up with pain in every joint and muscle. Eventually I was diagnosed with a high inflammatory count and something called polymyalgia, its when your own immune system starts to attack your body, a course of steroid tablets sorted it out fairly quickly but I was still in a bit of pain but manageable. Now here's the thing that makes me think it may have been the covid jab that triggered my immune system to go into overdrive, on my visit to the doctors one of the first things he asked me was, have you had a cold or bug recently, I said the only virus I have had was the one put into my arm, covid jab, he looked at me for a moment and said, “we have not received any reports that the vaccine may cause the immune system to go into overdrive, so I doubt it was the covid vaccine” The thing that added to my suspicion about the covid vaccine was him asking me about a cold or virus and his words “I doubt” and “any reports”…...yet. Think I will take my chance.

Think I will take my chance. Polymyalgia Rheumatica is relatively common. My late father had it (30 years before covid) and I know several others who have had it. It apparently tends to run in families - according to one of my Dr friends whose father also had it. he says that both he and I will probably get it. My father never managed to completely get rid of it and remained on a (low dose) of prednisoline for the rest of his (quite long) life. JohnfromUK
I'm glad you have had a good day and now know what the problem is and it is 'fixable'.
vmaxphil
I was dubious about the first round of injections but because we were looking after mother who was 93 I went along with them, now she has passed away I won't be having any more

Think I will take my chance. Sorry to hear about what could had been a bad reaction after your covid jab , like you I went years without catching a bad cold or the flu , then one year I did get a bad bout of flu and it really knocked me for six , I carried on working like you do until I couldn't even get out of bed let alone go to work , so the following year I had a flu jab , after I had it I felt rough for about a week and from then I didn't have any more , then the Pandemic came along and everyone , or nearly everyone was keen in getting some defence against it , so in time we had our first one , no problems , then the second and third , again all went well , or as well as could be expected with just minor discomfort , so I weighed up the odds of how I would feel if I had a severe dose of covid now I am getting well into old age , so now I have had my jab hopefully if I do catch it I will get away with minor problems rather than some of the horror stories you hear about . Imperfection
Im booked in for the covid booster this Sunday but im genuinely having 2nd thoughts. Over last three years i've been around many people who have allegedly had it but not contracted it myself. I've been pretty good with viruses etc my entire 53 year life and only had genuine flu twice in that time. Occasionally, (every 5 years or so) i'll pick a cold but i just get on with my day. Drs recon im at risk due to my bad health and im not sure whether to have it or not. Same goes for flu jab. They convinced me last year to have the flu jab so i guess that needs doing as well?
