To be fair they were easy to deal with, had a quick online interview and that was job done. You're the lucky one then
madge998
Update, No reply from PCC so i called them. They thought my FAO was dealing with it so didn't feel the need to reply, they have now given me the Complaints email address to lodge a formal Complaint and if i hear nothing within 2 weeks to then contact the PCC again. Spoke to my FAO and she advised me to go to Press if still not resolved. No wonder people are giving the sport up
muncher
My certificate runs out in July. I put in the renewal in March, I have already received a two month extension to my certificate 🤷♂️. I hope it’s sorted before that. Seems a blinking joke.

Did you submit your Medical Cert at the same time? I thought the Medical Cert had to be dated within three months of the renewal date. Mine is due in November this year. I had to get my doctors to print it off and the you take a picture of it and attach it the the document. Get everything ready before you start because you cannot go backwards as it deletes everything and you have to start again. I received an email about a month later saying they had the relevant documents and had attached an extension.

Your Medical is only valid for 6 months according to my FAO, Also a 6 month extension is now in place but I don't qualify for that as it's only just been Approved!! might have 4k cartridges for sale soon 🤣

I was warned advised by the local gunshop to put in my application ASAP (I had just got the renewal letter for August) as it "...might..." be done in time (and he was impressed that my GP form 'only' cost £65). I've just had the same two month extension letter... I thought combining the three counties' SGC renewal was supposed to streamline the process? I spoke to head of department today and the problem with mine is that i didn't disclose criminal activity from 30 years ago. This is my 3rd renewal so didn't think i would have to. Good news though after all my emails and official complaints my renewal has been approved so should have it back in a couple of weeks

David Mackie
Hi everyone, my licence expires on 12/01/2025 and I received a phone call at 19:30hrs at night on Christmas Eve stating that I am required to lodge my firearms with a dealer as they will not be able complete my renewal , and if I don’t they will send the arms response team to remove them as I would have committed an offence ? I’ve had firearms for thirty years and never had these messages sent to me when in Suffolk, but now I’m living in Cambs and it seems very harsh ? On this licence alone I’ve been responsible enough to maintain the security of my arms for five years , so what should a few weeks make the difference to? I’m flummoxed ? How long before expiry did you submit you renewal application? If 8 weeks or over, they have to extend your current certificate/s, if not there is nothing you can do. But if only shotguns, you can store them with another cert holder who you trust.
Scully
As above. Much depends on when you submitted for renewal; some forces send reminders, but I’ve heard some don’t. It’s a mess but the responsibility is yours to ensure your renewal is in on time. If it was in time then your licensing authority has no choice but to issue you a ( S7? I’ve had a few but can’t recall if that’s the right one! ) temporary permit, and don’t let them tell you otherwise as they tried with me. They are obliged by law to issue you with this if the criteria is met. This doesn’t allow you to buy ammo however.

dwicklow
My FEO recommended applying for my renewal 8 months before expiry, which I did. Herts/Beds Cambs. Not due till March '25 and I've already received an 8 week extension

la bala
Just a thought, are you reimbursed the cost of storing your guns with RFD.

ehb102
Cambs were always amazing. Couple of months turnaround time for new grants, lovely knowledgable FEOs. Now they are merged with Herts, Beds and who knows whoelse the service is nowhere near what it was.
derek bailey
So what if you have both shotgun and firearms as many of us do is it going to be £800 or if they run together a couple of quid more like it is now I think with in the next 3 years they will try to ban all game shooting pest control and fishing and nothing we say or do will stop them
