JohnfromUK
I'm afraid there is nothing new in this. Many senior (and junior) Labour MPs have received union sponsorship over the years and it still goes on. Historical : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:British_MPs_sponsored_by_trade_unions It has always been accused of the Tories that they take money from big business. The reality is that Labour and LibDems also take money - a LOT of money. https://news.sky.com/story/westminster-accounts-the-biggest-donors-to-mps-since-the-last-election-12767944

Sue Gray has a reputation for 'secret state' mentality. From the Wikipedia entry about her; "she was "notorious… for her determination not to leave a document trail", had advised special advisers how to destroy emails through "double-deletion" and made at least six interventions "to tell departments to fight disclosures under the Freedom of Information Act". I kid you not!
Vince Green
You can call me cynical but I can see no reason why anyone who has entered Labour Politics did so except to line their own pockets from the trough. Not necessarily true of the Conservative Politicians. Many of whom were already incredibly wealthy 《 Rishi Sunak, Jacob Rees Mogg etc) for whom public service probably cost them money. Others were very well educated and qualified, even if they lacked the common touch. But Labour has a load of poorly qualified chancers, Angela Raynor for example. Not even one GCSE to her name. Now Deputy Prime Minister. She can't ever speak in sentences and her protective circle of minders won't let her be interviewed on TV. Just shows how totally warped the system is that the deputy PM can get the job without a single qualification and have the inability to string together a sentence. She will be in the top job in time when the far left get shut of Ten Tier Kier. Edited August 18, 2024 by Weihrauch17

But Labour has always been quite close to Soviet style nepotism even though they have taken great pains to hide behind a rather more respectable cloak of respectability. How Raynor got to the top will alway be the subject of "you may suspect but I couldn't possibly comment " The truth is she has the support of the hard left and that is always going to be a worry
