Home Office understated the cost of Migrants

There is a story in the Guardian this morning which says that the Home Office (deliberately?) understated the cost of dealing with the migrants.

They put forward a figure of £110 million when the true cost was around £2.6 billion.

Rachel Reeves is blaming the last Tory government for everything but I'm not so sure. It's not the Tories that compiles the figures it's the Civil Servants

We have seen those senior Home Office Civil Servants wriggling and squirming in front of a Committee recently. I could easily believe anything bad about those deceitful people.  Would they have a reason to want to hide the extent of their incompetence? Of course they would.

The point is now, will there be an enquiry? Will names be named? Will heads roll?

Not a chance

It wasn't in the Tories interests to understate the figures either.  They (Sunak and most of his cabinet) were trying hard against much opposition from Starmer, the Courts, the Woke, most of the so called 'Celebrities' who pontificate on migrants  (and a fair bit from his own side) to get the Rwanda scheme up and running.  The more they could show the huge costs of the immigrants - the better for getting the doubters (mainly those in his own party) to vote with his Gov't.

In effect the Civil Service had (and probably still have) gone rogue

There is a clear divide in the west over the benefits of mass migration.

For the super rich it is a huge plus, drives wages and employment rights down and has very little negative impact for them, as they don't have to suffer the increase in crime, use of public services or worry about devaluing of pensions as more and more illegals are given right to stay and become elderly.

For everyone else it's a drain, drain on resources, public services, education, safety. But it also affects far more in loss of culture and identity.

It goes to show who's really in control of the country, it's not the masses but the privileged few.

It appears a huge chunk of the £22 billion blackhole that we've all got to dig deeper for is going to pay for illegal migrants. If that doesn't stick in peoples throats, I don't know what will.

Good post

But even that figure doesn't include  all the costs

The cost to the legal system for all the court time and legal aid associated with the asylum claims and appeals for one thing

The cost to the NHS

The cost to the education system

None of these secondary costs are included in those figures

And the interpreters for the NHS and even the local councils and the police have to employ interpreters. My stepdaughter is a housing officer for a London council and they have to use interpreters all the time. No other way to communicate with people.

All these hidden costs have to be paid for but nobody is adding them all up together . They are spread out across different budgets

And they do not try to learn English either. Try getting a job in Germany learn to speak and write German in 6 mths or loose job should be mandatory here to learn English would help in all communication areas and help integration
