Draining the tank 😬 FWIW. Our new condensing boiler used to waste at least a gallon of water every time a tap opened. All carp due to location. paulantony1960
We now have a water meter and the annual cost is around £230 this compared to the the non mettterd cost of £438 , so it certainly works for us , just me and the other half if your wondering how many people are in the household
udderlyoffroad
With 2 kids & various animals, not to mention major house renovations it’s a hard no from me on the water meter front. One garden hose fitting failing could cost hundreds if not caught early
shaun4860
When I enquired about a meter I was told from the day they install it I had 12 months to decide if I was saving money or not. If not, within the 12 months they would switch me back to non meter, after 12 months I would be stuck with it. I now pay around £17/month compared to £40 odd. If I sell my house, whoever buys it is stuck with the meter. (Northumbria Water)

Too many people think water is expensive, but for a £5 pint of beer you could afford 2,600 pints of water.- That’s the price at Welsh Water anyway and some are less. The water company would tell him the answer to that. Definitely worth having a meter if it’s possible, since 1996,I must have paid over £8,000 less than I would have. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, If you get a water meter Bobba make sure you get the serial number that will show on your bill, I had cause to check 2 residents water supply and bills on a meter, TWA again, it turned out for 6 years their meters were mixed up after I checked the water supply, so for 6 years they were using each others metered water 🤔, The difference was in £100s of pounds, Took 6 Months to get refunds

Our water rates are expensive, and we supply water to Liverpool, where the rates are cheaper than ours!!!!
