Since the latest reincarnation of e j Churchill in 1997 they have been selling guns built abroad and finished( oil stock or whatever) in England. They still use parts from abroad and have connections with arrietta and rizzinni to name but two. Nothing wrong with that, but must be noted these are not true handmade English guns as we know. All the more remarkable if that price is correct. Check out prices for Purdeys etc at the same sale, very much reduced sale prices in comparison to years gone by. That one was 100% English made, the continental range were made in Spain

I did state that I wasn't 100% sure if this particular gun was a joint venture with foreign gunmakers. Still an almost unbelievable price especially after the addition of vat, commission etc . Very happy seller I would think.

The .410 guns made a huge amount and they were non-ejectors to boot! It makes the "cost" of the .410" AYA No4 I got in part payment when I sold my Boss 12 look a real bargain. I think the parts were coming in from a British engineering firm who make action bodies, lock work, etc. and they were built in house. I know a chap well who was there building them at the time.
