redial
I always wanted one as a young man but couldn’t afford it, as an old man nothing has changed however, today I looked at a second hand one. Good condition but 1/2 & 3/4 which isn’t ideal but can live with it or have it changed. Length of pull is a problem, it has what I assume is the original rubber type butt pad which I would need to remove, could this be replaced easily and something added without it looking a dog’s dinner. Any advice welcomed. Thanks. ’
Smokersmith
It’ll never look right … and you’ll always know it ‘there’. Perhaps best to keep shopping around?

Northerner
Yes it can be easily done by a decent gunsmith but matching the wood will always be a pain unless you can just get away with a thicker pad to increase the LOP. The rubber pad itself might not be original unless it has browning on it. My b2g is half and 3/4, it works well for me 👍

I agree a wooden extension would be difficult and costly and a thicker pad maybe just too thick/long and unsightly if that makes sense. TIGHTCHOKE
From what I remember of the B2G's they came with a hard plastic butt pad as standard.
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, What is your LOP and length of Stock ??
Wylye
There are a lot of B2G's for sale and the prices are generally reasonable. Buy a 30ins 207 model and have the stock sorted. You are going to shoot the gun so why worry about what it looks like when you come to sell it on? Standard choking is 1/4 and 3/4 and yes, the standard gun had a plastic Browning butt plate. Lovely guns and sadly almost forgotten. They were all we ever wanted when I started shooting. Anyone under the age of 30 now is probably not even aware they exist. I would rather spend £3K on a B2G than a Guerini.

TIGHTCHOKE
I think the only pad to make things look better is a traditional Silvers, that looks in keeping with the gun.

TIGHTCHOKE
Here are my Browning and an early Beretta with a suitable pad.
Westley
If it has a rubber pad, 30" barrels and those chokings, it could well have started life as a 'Trap' model. Keep the original rubber pad, fit an Isis pad and shoot it. Just swap the pads over before you get rid of it.

There is a lot of info on the Browning owners forum (US) where anything post 1981 is considered a Miroku with considerable price differences. Date of manufacture is easy to work out from the serial number but I would definitely stick to a proper Belgian made Browning original just to know you've got the pukka item. Lots on info online plus I have a Browning .pdf detailing the manufacturing process which is worth a read - but it's 20Mb so can't be attached here but I could send it if you PM me your email address or WhasApp it to your phone? If of interest and you're not too far from Peterborough area (I'm regularly at Sporting Targets near Bedford) you are very welcome to shoot my gun. Wylye
I thought the 208 was the 32ins? The 28ins was a 206 - I think

I had understood the 208 Sporting was defined by rib height, not barrel length. I have some paperwork I'll dig out tomorrow. Could be wrong...!
