Dave-G
I read in the SUN today (wifey buys it) that Tom Hanks home din't get touched but some nearby homes did. I'm just amazed at how they aren't protected with a decent firebreak - but at the same time guess the local mayor is too woke to allow trees to be felled as a safety precaution. Stone houses should be affordable to the super rich.
Cosmicblue
One feels for the people involved of course but I'm also not that surprised. Here in Europe we build houses with brick and block, over in the US there is a preference to build houses using wood, even the roofing tiles are 'shakes', rather than some kind of stone/cement tile as we would have here they are using timber or composite products and thus extremely vulnerable to fire. Even the houses that look like they are made of something more solid are just cement rendered. Was inevitable, sooner or later. It's in the papers as well, people know the celebrities that's why it's been pointed out, they've still lost whatever was in their houses, 10,000 homes it was saying. 6 minutes ago, Dave-G said: I read in the SUN today (wifey buys it) that Tom Hanks home din't get touched but some nearby homes did. Then there's a house on the beach front made from concrete untouched with everything around it burned down 😳
JohnfromUK
Doesn't matter if you are rich, poor, famous, or just Joe Public - I have great sympathy with anyone whom loses their home, personal possessions, mementoes, memories, photographs etc. Its a horrible thing to happen to anyone. Totally agree but 99% of people have only one home, not just ONE multi million home in LA & countless other homes across the world. shaun4860
And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse than your house burning down. The Sussex’s turn up and offer sympathy 🤦🏻♂️
