Jim Neal
A neighbour has asked me if I can help. She has an aunt who owns land along the banks of a river which is used for game fishing. The aunt is interested in either selling it or leasing the fishing rights, but doesn't know how to go about it. This is all the information I have unfortunately. Can anyone point me in the right direction to steer her to get advice? Is there a national body/association who offer advice? Any help would be gratefully received! Duckandswing
My first port of call would be the Environment Agency or if in Wales National Resources Wales and also the council.
Stonepark
A decent land agent such as Savills can give advice. Can also look at leases for let\sales of stretches on offer at present by looking at land agents websites.
enfieldspares
Savills or similar. Galbraith? Buy a copy of The Field and look for advertisements near to you of such things. Beware that if you help too much and this aunt isn't happy that you then don't get the blame. I'd simply say that all you can advise is use the internet to search. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, As it is already used ?? By who ??, I was offered to buy a good stretch of a Trout river many years ago, Half mile of single bank , Start with the EA who should have a local Agent who would know the River and other owners or renters, I would look at Renting rather than selling as you would need to make full access to who ever buys ??, Renting will give you overall control Edited January 14 by oldypigeonpopper

It was decided it would go to a sealed bid auction and it sold for @240k.

Valuers can only give an opinion based on experience and are usually allowed 10% leeway either side so it’s bidders that create value! It’s why I am a valuer not an accountant…..I don’t need, nor am I expected to get it spot on each time and I failed A level:maths lol
