I would too. But I guess with 27 years in his pension pot he’s had enough. I guess he may have seen this as  his ticket out.

i think most inspectors go at 30 years some chief inspectors can do 35 but might have that wrong !

I would like to think there is more to this than what is being reported, to sack a 27 years service Inspector with no loss of rank option and bar him from working within law enforcement (  no references) seems pretty harsh. Lets see if he appeals .

ANY Police Officer of any rank can apply to continue after their '30 years'. It is usually only the hierarchy that do so. Most are thankful to see their retirement date, without being FORCED to retire through injury, physical or otherwise.

Westley I agree with that I have 3 bobbies within the family 

my uncle who passed at an early age ( proper old school Bobby) retired early ill health 

my cousin retired ( face did not fit )

my nephew just out of probation 

not a job I could do but a job that someone has to do !

The officer killed trying to help a stranded motorist while off duty locally springs to mind.

The pension is one of the reason police take the sh!t thrown at the sometimes literally.

I suspect an old school hands on Bobby that’s ruffled a few few and someone gone digging and found this to use to dismiss!

His comments are grossly offensive to people who are actually disabled or mentally ill.

NOT a job I would want to do today. The days of enjoying going to work are long gone, never to return. You dare not even tell a joke to workmates for fear of offending someone. As for getting Bernard Manning to appear at the Police social club.........well  !
