Guest The Outlaw
13 amps wont kill you, more chance of getting your lead nicked than dying from a 13 amp whack Any news on the lead thing btw? Tony

Tony Not sure about that, 7milliamp across the heart will kill you, it would have given me one hell of a shock anyway. There has been reports of a few more lead disappearances in the area. The current chicken farm owners have now put it up for sale, so I may be interested in that, convert them into offices and storage and best of all get rid of that awful smell

jayward
ive cut trough many a cable with various power tools , and garden tools also ,not saying it could not have killed you but im still around and have lost count of how many times BTW I always use my tools on rcd extension cable when on 240v There less than £30 !! but this has not always been the case lucky Also ive seen my fair share of tools with chock blocks on the power lead . A pall of mine has put a kango hammer through a main in the street it blew 3 inch off 2" thick chisel and made a flash like a lightning bolt hitting the ground the bang made around a dozen blokes jump a foot and our ears ring .. He was fine the cost for the power company to fix the problem and restore the power to a few streets was huge .. We still rib him now from time to time ... Ive seen diggers tear up a few mains cables but i assume they have protection of some kind as there always doing it ... get a RCB protector they dont cost a lot .. Lord Geordie
Dyson cables are normally pretty easy to replace I had to replace the one on my DC04 when the flex inside snapped after years of a Woman hoovering wrong and intent on holding the cable and pushing the hoover away and yarking the cable from the gromit. Really your supposed to hold a loop of cable against the handle to prevent this from happening I have had more belts than girlfriends and thats some acheivement Edited January 10, 2008 by Lord Geordie
Pedro
That's a rather detailed knowledge of how to hoover P.

hawkeye
The last time i cut through a electric cable was about 40 years ago, It was on Catterick Garrison there was some new barracks been built and i was on hire to the builders with a JCB it was a 20 thousand volt main put part of the camp in darkness for 3 days and cut the bottom out of the machine bucket as clean as a whistle never felt a thing thank god.. Wasn't very popular with the contractors though, still it was there fault the banks man THEY GAVE ME who worked for them had actually been told where all the cables were but when i asked he said its OK there's nothing there next minute BANG   Edited January 10, 2008 by hawkeye
Yellow Bear
An old sparky once told me "it only takes 11volts to kill a pig" and he is right - it's the amps that kill and IIRC a dyson should have a 3 or 5 amp fuse. But a 240v belt does smarten you up a tad when you are not expecting it. D
